Step 3: WWTF's Phosphorus Reduction Potential
Patterns and trends.
Evaluation of past and present WWTF operations to determine the operating procedures that
maximize phosphorous removal.
1. The Facility implements a strategy to transfer and isolate water in the secondary, as long
as possible prior to discharge, to maximize the wastewater treatment capability of the
pond system. The ponds will be operated to the fullest extend possible in a series
mode to meet this goal.
Recommended Action Based on treatment at comparable pond WWTF.
*Recommended Action choices are Maintain or Improve Performance for WWTF performing at or
below average values in Table 2B or Evaluate Phosphorous Reduction Strategies for WWTF
exceeding average values in Table 2B.

Step 6 : Phosphorous Reduction Potential of Users
Table 3: Summary of Phosphorous sources
Potential sources could include industries, bars, restaurants, schools, car-washes, locker-plants and
others.

Effluent Goals for either one or multiple industrial, commercial or institutional users:
(Please attach additional paper if necessary)
The City of Big Falls has no industrial, commercial,or institutional users. The only influence on the T/P load
is domestic sewage. We will try to reduce the load by providing education on ways to reduce T/P load.

Step 7: Implementation Plan to Meet Phosphorous Reduction
and Removal Goals
Phosphorous Reduction Strategies:
1. The Facility implements a strategy to transfer, and isolate water in the secondary,
as possible prior to discharge, to maximize the wastewater treatment capability of the
pond system. The ponds will be operated to the fullest extend possible in a series
mode to meet this goal.
