A pledge card is a simple basic set of biblical rules that we believe each Christian who is

honestly looking for the second coming of Christ should live by. Each pledge is based on
requirements the bible has set down for God’s people to follow. As such the pledge card is best
studied by going through each pledge and referring to the bible passages indicated. Having a
bible is a necessary.

This document seeks to help to explain some of the points on the pledges and seeks to provide
answers for frequently asked questions.

We advise praying before beginning the pledges and Remember “YOU can do ALL things
through Christ who strengthens YOU.” See Philippians 4:13

1. The first pledge reveals that is acceptance of Christ and His ability to save you FROM sin.
Some verses to consult are John 3:16 and Matthew 1:21
2. The bible is given as the “text book for living” or as some say “Basic Instructions Before
Leaving Earth”. See also 2 Timothy 3:15-17
3. As such the bible should be studied daily. See also Deuteronomy 6:6-7
4. The Sabbath was created for humans (Mark 2:27) and even those not of the nation of Israel
were invited to keep the Sabbath (Isaiah 56:6-7); the Sabbath was given as a gift to indicate
that God is sanctifying His people (Ezekiel 20:12).
5. Rest is not the only part of Sabbath keeping and throughout the bible texts can be found
which reveal worship being carried out on the Sabbath. Some are Leviticus 23:3; Acts
13:42-44
6. The tithe and offering are used to support the work of the church.
7. All sexual sin is covered under the principles outlined in this pledge. See Exodus 20:14; 1
Corinthians 6:9, 18-20
8. From before the days of the flood God had already placed a designation on animals to be
clean or unclean (Genesis 7:2) hence God merely reminds Israel of the designation Leviticus
11 and Moses reminds them again in Deuteronomy 15.
9. Drugs damage the body. Our bodies are God’s temple and as such we should take proper
care of it. This means not partaking of substances that prevent us from thinking clearly. See
also Proverbs 23:29-35
10. God created man in His image and thus the bible teaches that external adornments should
not be placed upon the body. Dress should be simple yet neat. The church allows the
wearing of wedding bands but some persons may be seen without such even though married.
See also Exodus 33:4-6 and Genesis 35:2-4
11. The bible as the supreme rule of faith and practice and all other instructions to be tested by
it.
12. Jesus instructs that those who desire to enter the kingdom should be baptized as a
declaration of a desire to live a transformed life. See also Mark 16:16 and Acts 2:32
