“Top 5 Ways to Help People in Developing Countries.” Globetrotter Guru, 3 Mar. 2018,

www.globetrotterguru.com/developing-countries/.

Since my initial question is “What can I do to help those in underprivileged countries?”

this article was helpful and informing. I learned several possible ways to help those who aren’t as

fortunate as I am. This article is very opinionated and I agreed with most of her opinions so I

enjoyed reading the article. This article is relevant to my inquiry topic because it basically

answers my questions. I was searching for ways to helps children in underdeveloped and I found

some.

This article proved to be credible because it is written by an author who is personable and

gives her opinions. The author provides an email and phone number so people can contact her

about ways to help in underprivileged countries. She also provides pictures of her experiences,

and travel blogs which create a more personal effect while reading the article. It made me feel

like she has enough information to share with other people.

Banerjea, Niharika. “Voluntary Participation and Poor Women's Work: a Critical Examination of

a Community Health Improvement Initiative in a Kolkata Slum.” Contemporary South Asia, vol.

This article relates to my inquiry topic because it gives me a background on what some

people are going through in other countries. In this case the article is about voluntary

participation in India and how NGO’s help these people. The NGO that this article talks about

has funded a program to help with reproductive and child health care in Shibtala, Kolkata. Since

my inquiry is about helping those in underprivileged countries this article is a perfect way to

learn more about what I can do to help.

The source seems credible due to extensive amounts of research by the author, Niharika

Banerjea. She includes many references such as books about women living in poverty in

underprivileged countries and well as many health books. She also has done a lot of research on

the specific NGO that the article talks about.

Lykens, Kristine, et al. “Social, Economic, and Political Factors in Progress Towards Improving

Child Survival in Developing Nations.” Proquest, Nov. 2009, search-proquest-

com.librarylink.uncc.edu/docview/220585901?accountid=14605.

My third source gives me a good foundation on the factors that play into why children in

developing countries need help. Children are not surviving because they don’t have the means to

be healthy and taken care of. This article ties into my inquiry research because in a way it

explains some of my reasons for choosing my inquiry. The article specifically answers my

questions on what is being done in developing countries regarding improving children’s lives.

The article seems credible because three out of the four authors have PhD’s, which to me

means that they are very knowledgeable in their field of study. The authors are also involved

2
with The School of Public Health at the University of North Texan Health Canter at Fort Worth.

They have done a lot of research regarding the topic proving that they know what they are

talking about.

“Organizations Improving Education in the Developing World.” The Borgen Project, 31 Jan.

2018, borgenproject.org/education-in-the-developing-world-2/.

The next article talks about different organizations that are helping to improve children

education in developing countries. This relates to my inquiry because it informs me of

organizations I could potentially be a part of and help children. Education is one of the most vital

things that a person can have so helping children gain an education would be a great way to help

those in developing countries.

The source seems credible because the website because it’s a blog founded by an

organization called “The Borgen Project” which is a nonprofit organization. “The Borgen

Project” has a president and board of directors as well. This shows that “The Borgen Project” is a

serious organization that can provide factual information regarding worldwide poverty.

White, Howard. “Educating the World: How to Get Pupils in Developing Countries to Learn |

Howard White.” The Guardian, Guardian News and Media, 26 Sept. 2013,

www.theguardian.com/global-development/poverty-matters/2013/sep/26/educating-world-

children-developing-countries.

The last article is also about education in impoverished countries. This correlates with my

inquiry because it is about what is being done to provide children, especially girls with an

3
education. The article provides information on programs that are helping to provide children with

an education in developing nations as well as ways to keep children in school.

The article seems factual because the author, Howard White is the executive director of

the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation which makes him knowledgeable about this

kind of information. This article is also written on The Guardian which is a well-known, wide

read website and newspaper. This article is written under the “global development” blog which is

supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. All of these facts prove to me that this

article is a reliable source.
