This two sheets spreadsheet calculates the heat loss through an insulated surface in natural convection + radiation

The metal temperature is assumed to be known. In case of vessels containg liquids this temperature usually coincides with
temperature of the liquid, since the internal ressistance is much smaller than those of air and insulation.
Sheet 1 corresponds to a vertical surface (planar or cylindrical). Data must be input in the yellow cells
It is necessary to perform an iterative procedure assuming the temperature of the external face of the insulation.
Introduce the assumed value in cellk D17 and observe the calculated value in cell D18. Adjust if necessary
Air properties are calculated with a simplified formula only valid for moderate temperatures
