MCHS Reserved Parking

FAQ’s
1. What is Reserved Parking at MCHS and why are we doing it?
All students who drive to school are currently required to have a parking decal displayed on the rear view mirror
of the car. Beginning in August 2018, MCHS will be utilizing reserved parking for all students. Students will
choose their parking spot for the year and will be required to park in that spot for the entire school year, from
before school until 2:00 p.m. Other high schools in the district have been using reserved parking for several
years and have found it to be a good security measure to quickly assess who is and who is not on campus.

2. How much will Reserved Parking cost?

Parking and PTO membership will cost the same as last year. Parking decals are $35 for any portion of the year
used. PTO memberships are $40 for PTO Member, $100 for Blue Contributor, $250 for Orange Contributor, and
$500 for Jaguar Contributor. A $3 Eventbrite transaction fee applies to all online purchases.

3. How will Reserved Parking work?

The PTO will release an email to parents opening up both the purchase of parking decals and PTO Membership
for the 2018-2019 school year. You will be directed to the Eventbrite website where you will have until July 8 to
purchase both your parking decal and PTO membership, prior to the opening of the MCHS PARKING MAP site on
July 12. You may also pay by check or cash (see FAQ#7.) In order to access the MCHS PARKING MAP site, you
must have purchased both a decal and a PTO membership. Once your purchase is complete, you will receive a
confirmation email with details on reserving your parking spot.

have upgraded your membership. Your original PTO membership (including any applicable fees) should be
refunded to you within 4 weeks by Eventbrite.

9. I cannot purchase a PTO membership this year. Can my child still park on campus?
Yes, your child can still have a parking space on campus but MUST pay the $35 parking decal fee. Depending on
when your student purchases the parking decal, he may still get to pick or might actually be assigned a parking
spot for the year.

10. We have multiple students in our family - each driving their own car. Do I have to purchase a PTO
membership for each student?
No, PTO membership is family based. Only one membership is needed per family. When you purchase your
membership online, you will be prompted for each student’s name, grade, and MSIS number. In your
confirmation email, a separate code for each parking decal purchased will be included. These codes will be used
when the MCHS PARKING MAP site opens in order to pick your student’s reserved spot.

11. Will I still have to turn in a drug consent form and parking form?
Yes, both forms will still be required and can be found on the school website on the home page. Please make
sure you have your parent sign the drug consent form and that you complete the car description and tag
number before arriving for schedule pick up. You must bring these completed forms with you to schedule pick
up.

12. When will I get my parking decal?

At school during schedule pick up on August 2 and 3. You will turn in the completed and signed drug consent
form and the parking form at the parking table. Volunteers will then pull your decal that corresponds with your
parking space. You will NOT get your parking decal until the two forms are turned in completed.

13. I like to park by my friends each day. How do I know where their cars will be?
Get with your friends before parking opens to decide where you want to pick your reserved spots.

14. I’m a senior but am in the band, play baseball, soccer, etc. I like to park in the back lot. Where will I park?
All seniors are welcome to park in the senior lot OR the back lot.

15. I play sports and typically move my car after 4th block starts to be closer to the field house.
Reserved parking will be enforced in the mornings before school and throughout the day until last block of the
day. At that time, all open spots are available for afterschool activities and extracurricular parking on a first-
come, first-serve basis.

16. Someone is parked in my spot. What do I do?

Park in the visitor parking near the library. Come into the front office and let one of the ladies know. The front
office will take care of the rest. You can go on to class assured that YOU won’t be getting an office referral.

17. I parked in someone else’s spot. What happens?

You will receive an office referral that could include both disciplinary action as well as loss of exemption
privileges.

18. I have a student who won’t drive until ½ way through the school year. What do I do?
Go ahead and purchase your PTO membership and parking decal (parking decals are NOT pro-rated during the
year). Pick out your student’s parking spot. When your student is ready to bring a car on campus, turn in the
completed and signed drug consent form and parking form to the front office and pick up the decal attached to
the spot your student already chose. This is a great way to make sure that new drivers get the parking spot they
want.

19. I lost my confirmation email with my parking code on it. How do I retrieve it?
Please send an email to mchspto@gmail.com noting that you have lost your original confirmation email.
Someone will respond within 48 hours with the information you need.

20. I need to change my reserved spot. How do I do that?

Complete the RESERVED PARKING CHANGE REQUEST form in the front office. Your request will be approved or
denied on a case by case basis by administration who will inform you of the decision reached. Please be
prepared to state a reason for the request.

21. I am a parent visiting MCHS. Where do I park during the school day?
Visitor parking is located immediately in front of the school for short-term parking or unloading, in front of the
media center, or behind the teacher parking in front of the gym in spots S128-S147.
