SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
a. Environmental Responsibility
b. Philanthropic Initiatives
The primary focus on ethics is to provide fair labor practices for businesses’
employees as well as the employees of their suppliers. Fair business practices for
employees include equal pay for equal work and living wage compensation initiatives.
Ethical labor practices for suppliers include the use of products that have been
certified as meeting fair trade standards. For example, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream
uses fair trade-certified ingredients like sugar, cocoa, vanilla, coffee and bananas.
d. Economic Responsibility
Social responsibility is one of the many facets of values formation. And having
this responsibility is a major count to the arsenal of a person’s integrity or the fullness
of character. Additionally, a person with social responsibility does not only adds up
to his individual worth but also to the society through his efforts to make it a better
place for him and for others. Therefore, having social responsibility sharpens the
weapon (values) of a person to fend off negative forces that may hurdle development.
