Overall aim and context of the lesson

The aim of teaching Math (shapes lesson) is students will be able to recognize and identify the
triangle from different shapes.

I taught a math lesson was about the triangle shape. As I prepared with my MST and I showed
her the kinds of activity, if it suits with them. I prepared three different activities, the first it has to
make penguin with using shaped cutted papers, the second was to make a fish with shaped cutted
papers and the last activity is to make a kite with shaped cutted papers. In addition, I prepared a
worksheet as extra activity for those who finish fast. I prepared closing after these activities, but
my MST told students to be prepared for the break time and that let me cancel the closing.

What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?
What did the students do?
On 6 march 2018 I taught a math lesson was about triangle. It was for KG2-C students, I gave
this lesson in second period during the classroom environment. I chose it because I have to turn
on the tringles song and I need a projector. I am working to achieve managing students and have
the teacher character in front students, so that let students to interact and respond to my
instructions as a teacher. In addition, I tried to achieve my activities and make more challenged
but I have to work more on that. The students were interact with lesson and responding to me,
also, they were busy with solving activities. So, that let students to be managed and quiet while
the lesson time.

How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?
How well did you engage the students?
I think they were responded to me, because the teacher don’t use the hands-on activities. In
addition the MST style in the teaching let students to not interact and be active during the lesson.
For example, she depends on the books that they have in the school and doing the task. That, the
main reason why the students got bored and move a lot during her class. I connected this lesson
with prior shape they took like: square and circle, in addition I connected to the prior letter they
took “Qq” because they made an activity related to the letter and shapes. I engaged the student by
explore shapes around the class and the most shapes they find it will be our shape of the day. So,
they immediately count the shapes and say it is triangle. Also, the flash cards that I used with
different shapes that let students to review the pervious shapes and recognize the triangle. Also, I
used a song about triangles that includes the sides, corners and pictures with triangle shapes.

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?
I felt that students interacted with activities and enjoyed during the lesson. They got the concept
of the week is about triangle shape. For instance, they showed me a triangle shape that stick on
the wall in the math corner. And, I felt that I achieved my teaching goals when I asked students
while the activities what shape is this? How many sides and corners? That let me know I
achieved my teaching goals for this lesson.

How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice?
I will work on making activities more challenged and making activities harder that can students
spend more time on activities. The class is active, so I noticed they have to be busy on working or
let them to think on tasks that can busy with. The implication for professional practice is working
on the areas of development and what I have to focus on for the next lesson. I will work on
developing myself on dealing and managing misbehaves students by getting their attention.
