Research Title:
Is Social Media and Internet making us Unsocial?

Objective:
The primary objective of the study is to figure out whether using Social
Media and Internet causing solitary and making us antisocial. And at the end
of the study this paper will also figure out what we should do for nice living a
better future.

Abstract:
Social media sites can make it more difficult for us to distinguish between
the meaningful relationships we foster in the real world, and the numerous
casual relationships formed through social media. The immediacy provided
by social media is available to predators as well as friends. Kids especially are
vulnerable to the practice of cyber-bullying in which the perpetrators.
While many businesses use social networking sites to find and communicate
with clients, the sites can also prove a great distraction to employees who
may show more interest in what their friends are posting than in their work
tasks. Social networking sites encourage people to be more public about
their personal lives. Because intimate details of our lives can be posted so
easily, users are prone to bypass the filters they might normally employ
when talking about their private lives.

Literature Review:
1. Paul Kirschner and Aryn Karpinski define Facebook and other social
network sites as an online directory that allows people to find their
friends, family and colleagues through looking them up on social
network sites (Kirschner and Karpinsk, 2010). Curtis states that teens
all over the world are starting to lose interest in the use of Facebook
and are using Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram (Curtis, 2013).
2. June Ahn discusses in her research a theory called ‘Signalling Theory’,
this theory refers to how individuals on social network sites present
themselves, and develop their identities and build trust with others.
She also adds that, by having many friends on the different platforms,
this causes the individual to lose the trust of their friends because they
start adding people they do not know, to show others how popular
they are (Ahn, 2011b).

Conclusion:
The primary objective of the research is to throw light on how effectively has
the usage of social networking sites affected the youth by evaluating both of
its positive and negative aspects.
