Diagnostic Assessment Interview (Science)

1. What diagnostic assessment has taken place this semester?


At the beginning of the year, they test the children and use their
sheets and assessment data to plan lessons.
2. When did this occur?
Beginning of the semester.
3. What types of assessments were conducted? (written, oral, practical,
etc.)
Written.
Oral questions at start of each topic.
4. Who developed these assessments?
Year 4 teachers: each instructors leads a subject.
5. Who conducted the assessments? (classroom teacher, Arabic teacher,
classroom assistant, etc.)
Classroom teacher under strict test conditions.
6. Were the assessments completed by students individually?
Yes, without help.
7. What information did you hope to get from the assessments?
Their current knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts.
Any gaps in knowledge, such as sound and vibrations.
8. What decisions did you make based on the assessments?
Learning objectives for lessons altered and set.
Differentiation: support given during lessons.
9. How did you group your students? (same/different academic levels,
friendship groups, similar interests, etc.)
Mixed ability: to explain and help others, so it will save time for
teacher and class.
10. Do the groups change for different learning subjects/topics?
No.

Three each academic year. Done at the start of each term.


12- How is diagnostic assessment is benefit for teacher and learners?

It helps teachers to gain an understanding of the children’s knowledge


from which they plan lessons.

Yes, it is very important for the children’s to see their progress.
