The first reeks or 1971 have been encouraging ones for us. Un January 11, we had the opportunity to meet with Janet Mondlane, wife of the late Eduardo Mondlane, first President ot' FRELIMO, and to learn f1~sthand about FRELIMO'B ongoing work. In order to share with -you what we learned from Janet, 'e are encloaing~a summary of Borne of the main topics ·which ahe covered. 'Janet expressed her deep grati tu~e for our support and suggested many possible aye in which we might aid the liberation struggle. We left the meeting with new insnirat10n for important .work to be done in the new year. Our FRELIMO poster is almost ready to go to the printer. In accordance with the wishes of Rebelo and Guebuza, the Central Committee -members whom we met in November, we have put on the poster a picture or ~amor~ Machel, ~re81dent of FRELIMO t holding up a child. This is the same picture which apnea.red on the ,New Yea.r t s greeting card ~Thich we sent out. We have added the worda "MozambiQue Will be Free,FRELIMO Vencera" in large letters. At the bottom, in ~maller'lettere, we have ~rinted the tollowing quote from a me8~age to the Mozambican people , delivered by Samora Machel on September 2~,1970: A mango does not become a great tree in its first day, but like a growing mango tree, we are deeply rooted in the Boil th~t is our people, and the masses are now tRFting the firAt fruit8. We are hoping that you will be able to help us diRtribute the poster throughout the country. Please write and let us know of nlacea in your communities where it might be sold.
