Reflection Essay

As my first writing course in the university, I have learned a lot during this class. The

knowledge I learned from this course is something that is practical and useful in my future. For

example, skills to construct a readable report and skills to write a letter, these are the skill that all

our future employer will seek.

After all the reviewing all the assignment and the feedbacks given, I found several

improvements I made during this course along with some point needed to be improved. For the

improvements I made, it can tell by the grade I receive from the assignments. From my grades of

the white paper report and the recommendation report to the grade of the instruction and

usability report and the inquiry letter, there was a jump from around 70% to 90%. This can show

that I am improving in the class. However, from the feedback of each assignment, I found out

that there are some consistent grammar mistakes happens almost every paper I submit, which

means that I have to work harder to improve this aspect.

For course goal, in the beginning of this course, I set a goal to myself that not to feel

stressful when I need to write a large and lengthy document. I think I have successfully meet this

goal. It is because during the white paper report and the recommendation report, I have broken

the word amount record in my writing history since the longest document I wrote before was

around 1500 words. In fact, I also learned to divide all the contents so that it will look like some

small parts combined into one instead of one huge part to write.
 Besides the course goal, in terms of the assignments, the best assignment I have

submitted was the inquiry letter. It is because it scored the highest among all my other

assignments. Besides, it is the shortest assignment and makes it the easiest to manage. If I could

add an assignment to this course, I would suggest adding an assignment about writing an in-

depth review. Although we are having a peer review with some designed questions, I think we

should know how to review a paper without. For the assignment to be edited, I think it will be

the document analysis. Since it is short and easy compared to all the document we wrote, some

student will rush it at the very last minute and defeated the purpose of the assignment.

In conclusion, this is the best English class I have so far. Although I am not an English

Speaker, I can still get a grasp on the material in this class and I can find myself improving in the

course. Therefore, thanks for the great education!
