Overall aim and context of the lesson

The math lesson was about comparing objects and figure out which one is more, less or equal, it helps
the students to know the difference between greater numbers or fewer, help students to count, to
compare, analyze and think before they choose the answer for the questions given. My aim was to let
the students identify the concept of more, less and equal and to represent and determine amounts of
objects when they are put together, taken away, and numbers that are one more or one less than a
given number.

SWC Lesson Reflection

Select (S):
The lesson was about identifying objects if they are more, less or equal to each other. I was addressing
three standards the low, medium and the high students, each one of the activity was different in the
way they’re demonstrated, however, they had the same purpose. I had a group activity where students
in each group will be given a worksheet that has different ob jects and comparing, they will have to
circle the most from each group and draw the sign in the middle, students with higher level would
help other students, and they did very well at this activity they were sharing their answers and they
all separated the questions between them which I didn’t expect them to do. The next one was an
individual activity, which I didn’t have the time to share it with them because they had to finish early
to practice for their foundation day. The last one was working on their b ook, they had few pages about
the lesson we taken during the class, most of the students were able to work on it by themselves and
few students needed help, but overall they all did very well and even the students who needed help
was able to answer by themselves they just needed someone to read and ask them the questions given
in the book.

Describe (D):
The lesson takes place in Al Alfiah Filipino Private School [AFPS] on the 25th of February, it was
prepared for Kg 2 students who’s 4-6 years old and was made after a discussion with MST. During
my lesson, my goal was to let the students identify the more, less and equal signs and their meanings.
After the students got the idea MST helped me to let them understand more about the signs with
changing the “Baby shark song” where it says “baby shark do, do …..” to “Greater than do, do… or
less and equal” which made it very easy for them to understand. Students were well behaved since I
showed them the classdojo that I prepared for them and tell them that if the y behave they will get
rewarded, students listened very well and the strategy was very effective that even the nosiest student
was a little quiet, but even though very f ew students still misbehaved.
Analyze (A):
Classroom management was done very well this time, and I believe students were well behaved
because the classdojo and rewarding them was a new thing to them, so they were interested and
engaged to behave and follow the rules to get more points add to them, one student keep on
misbehaving and I think he did that because he lost few points at the beginning so he didn’t care about
it later, but while rewarding the good students he seemed to be jealous and sad because he’s not being
rewarded like his classmate. Students had difficulties at the beginn ing to understand the signs of
more, less and equal, what do they mean and what’s the different between them. Later on, after getting
the idea of it they were able to answer the questions and do their tasks very well. Students were
engaged well since the engaging part was different this time with rewarding also.

Appraise (A):
Students were engaged during the whole lesson, they answered correctly and learned very well from
the mistakes they had done. Moreover, I did meet all my teaching goals, students were able to
identify the concept of more, less and equal and to represent and determine amounts of objects
when they are put together, taken away, and numbers that are one more or one less than a given
number.

Transform (T):
In the future I would like to add more fun to the way I introduced the lesson, I would like students
to draw sets by themselves, compare and discuss together which one is more, less or equal. However,
I liked how the lesson went and the strategies used to manage students behavior. A nyhow, I still
need to practice my teacher's voice and having more facial expression.
