Lesson Title: Template Vessel


Grade/Class: 9th-12th Ceramics intro- level 4
Time Allotment: About 80 min
Lesson Summary: In this lesson students will learn how to create paper templates in order to create a vessel
out of clay slabs.
Enduring Idea: Throughout time templates have used measurement to create works of art
Lesson Title: Templates

1. Essential Questions:
 What is a template?
 Why is it important to use templates?
 How do I create different templates?
2. Key Concepts:
 Templates can be used as a way of measurement.
 Templates can be used to create multiple forms all exactly the same size and shape.
 Templates can be used to create tons of different vessels.
3. Standards:
9.1.12.D. Demonstrate specific styles in combination through the production or performance of a
unique work of art.
OBJECTIVES
The students will…
1. Learn to create a template to use as many times as they want.
2. Create a template with correct measurements based on the form they desire.
3. Use the correct skills while creating and attaching clay slabs.
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
Day 1: ASSESSMENT
