WHERE IT COMES FROM
Why do people bully?

- People respond to stress and pressure in various ways. Bullies take on the negative

HOW WE CAN TRY TO STOP IT
● “clubs and extracurricular activities really help diversify everyone.” (Ms. Medina)

● “ We should acknowledge there is a bullying problem, train students and staff on how to deal
with a bullying situation and then reward those who stand up against bullying.”
(Mr. Inokuchi)

● “A major problem I see is that students see bullying happening and they are afraid to speak
up against the bully.”(Pat)

● “We’ve done activities such as: Breaking down the walls with staff and students. What I
noticed a lot in classrooms is that teachers don’t really notice what happens in their own
classrooms.” (Mr. Prior)

11
How we can try to stop it (Cont). ● Sophomores:

it's better to tell an adult that to let the just turn the other way”-anonymous

could make it worse (when given the ● “There is no definite way to stop bullying,
opportunity the bully could last out at the there will always be someone who wants to
victim”-anonymous seek power over another”-anonymous 12
HOW TO IDENTIFY BULLYING & HOW TO RESPOND to it
● Identifying bullying will help to know how to respond when a situation happens.
● If you see behaviors such as:
○ Name calling/rumor spreading
○ Making threats/ teasing
○ Hitting, kicking, or intimidation from another student
● Stand up to the bully or get an adult
● It’s a difficult situation to be in if your being/ seeing bullying especially if you've never
been taught how to respond to the situation.
● Luckily there are effective ways of minimizing bullying such as:
○ Increasing awareness
○ Encouraging classmates to seek help
○ Promoting personal and social competencies
(Tara L. Kuther)

13
CONCLUSION
● It's no secret bullying occurs all over the world. It's very important to understand that
just because we don't see it happening doesn't mean someone isn't being bullied.

● We must remember:
○ Stand up to the bully
○ Report bullying and victimization incidents to the school
○ Don't wait to react

● In no way can we say bullying will completely stop bullying because in reality there will
most likely always be an occurrence. If we grab the bull by its horns and become more
aware of the subject we may see less of it happening.
