Diagnostic Assessment

Reflect on the interview and the information gained about diagnostic assessment from
your MST. Consider how/why you would implement diagnostic assessment in a UAE
primary classroom in the future. Explain how this practice will affect student learning
in a primary class.

Diagnostic assessment is a tool to support students learning. Teachers need to

do this type of assessments to discover students’ needs and levels. According to
my MST answers, I saw that UAE primary schools need to implement this type of
assessments. It helps the teacher to plan for the lessons and the activities
because the assessment is helping to gather information related to student’s
levels and abilities. Also implementing the diagnostic assessment will help to set
expectations on student’s progress in the subjects. Moreover, it gives the
teacher clear idea about her students and what is the next step for the child.
