Instructions to Students:
1. Students found in breach of assessment conditions can be charged with academic misconduct, have their results
cancelled, be excluded from the program and receive other penalties. Penalties can also apply if a student’s
assessment material is copied by others.

1. Introduction
3. Datasheet: include a copy of the correctly filled out raw datasheet from the field. This will
be the re-written copy of the datasheet signed by the teacher during the field session.
[NOTE: For your convenience, the data you need to use for setting the curve is given
in page 4 of this document.]
4. Drawing: draw all the details on a min. A3 paper (AutoCAD) and name all the main features
of the landmarks on the drawing. On the same drawing, show the details of the horizontal
curve that you set out during your practical surveying.
5. Equipment: list the equipment used in the setting out of the horizontal curve.
6. Procedure: write the procedure of setting out the horizontal curve as used by you in the
field.
7. Discussions: discuss the potential sources of errors and their impact on the results.
8. Usage and Importance: write the importance of the setting out surveying and where it is
used in the construction industry.
