7th Grade Girls Bible

Instructor: Crissta Morrison

High School Rm. #15
Email: cmorrison@lubbockchristian.org*
In 7th grade girls Bible, students will be taught the Truth of God through scripture study and
discussion so that these young women can grow “in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with
God and men” Luke 2:52. The role of educating Biblical wisdom is not taken lightly at Lubbock
Christian, but seeks to understand God’s Word as it applies to everything, for we believe that
“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in
righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2
Timothy 3:16. Students will view the world and the Word through the Jesus narrative that
mankind has fallen from God’s grace, and through the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus
Christ, God has reconciled humanity back to him, that we may strive to live out His good and
perfect will. Students will learn how to think critically about the world and see it from God’s
point of view.
Incoming students are expected to have read “Nehemiah” from the Bible.
Grading and Late Work Policy:
This course has three types of grades: participation (20%), daily work (30%), and exams 950%).
Participation looks at two different aspects of student involvement: 1) Attendance, 2)
Attentiveness and engagement in classroom discussions and activities. Daily work will be any
in-class or homework assignment given in class. Exams will include major project grades,
scripture memorizations, and unit exams.
Students will have the number of days they were absent plus one to turn in late work. This
ONLY applies to absences due to illness or emergency. Students that are absent for a school
related event will be expected to receive their work ahead of time, and turn in to Ms. Morrison
on or before the deadline. Please check the absent binder for make-up work.
Any late work will have 10 points deducted for every school day that the assignment is late.
There will be a few extra credit opportunities given at teacher discretion.
Attitude:
Love – Everything you do in this class should come from a loving place.
Engage – This class will be fun and you will learn if you engage.
Authenticity – Be real in discussion and activities; your bravado isn’t necessary here.
Discipleship – Be a disciple for Jesus in this class. Your actions should look like him in
the classroom, the hallway, the field, and in the world.
Classroom Rules and Procedures:
1. Be in your seat and stay in your seat
 Please be in your seat, ready to begin class when the bell rings. Stay in your seat
during instruction.
2. Do not leave the classroom
 You are not allowed to go to the restroom, the office, or another teacher’s
classroom during the class period. Please take care of business during passing
periods.
3. Never leave the classroom dirty
 Make sure the shelves are straightened up, work areas are put together, and there
is not any trash on the floor every day after class.
4. Come to class prepared
 I will not have extra supplies for students. Please come prepared every day! Have
paper, a writing utensil, the material we are covering that day (book, poem, essay,
etc.), and be prepared to discuss the reading assignment. We will be reading this
year; please make time in your schedule for it!
5. Cell phones
 All junior high students must keep their phone away at ALL times. This is a
school wide policy. If a student needs to contact a parent, or vise versa, the
communication must be made through the LC front office.
 If a junior high student is on their phone…
o On the first offence, I will take up your phone and you can come retrieve it
at the end of school from me.
o On the second offence, I will send your phone to the office for you to
retrieve from Mr. Lawrence.
Discipline Policy:
I require student respect for myself and other students in the classroom. I also require that
students come prepared with supplies and assignments complete daily. When student behavior or
preparation is lacking, the student’s participation grade will suffer. If the negligence continues,
the following procedures will be followed:

1st Offense – Student will be given a warning and will need to speak with Ms. Morrison
after class.
2 Offense – Student will receive a referral, an email will go home to parents, and an
nd

extra assignment that will fit the punishment at Ms. Morrison’s discretion.
3rd Offense – Student will receive an office referral and will speak with Mr. Lawrence,
and an email will go home to parents.
Course Materials:
You will need the following materials every day:
 Bible (any version)*
 Journal
 Pencils/Pens and Red Pens
 Colored pencils, pens, markers (if desired)
 A folder or binder to keep all Bible work
 Notebook paper
*I will use the NIV translation for all scripture memorization.
