CHAPTER I

Introduction

“The Social Network”

The social network is a movie premiered in the United States. Tells the story of
the known social network Facebook.

CHAPTER II

The plot

Mark is angry and drunk because his girlfriend ends up with him. He extracts names and
photographs of students with the help of his best friend, Eduardo Saverin. Mark creates a page
called "FaceMash", where Harvard students choose the most beautiful girl. Then, Mark is
punished with six months of academic suspension because his site stops part of the Harvard
network.

Most students criticize Mark for insulting his ex girlfriend and for comparing the
attractiveness of some students with others. The twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss explain
Mark who is looking for a person who designs a website, so after listening to them Mark decide
to help them. After that, the twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss call him and invite to design a
website. So Mark decides to help them.

A short time later, Mark approaches his friend Eduardo to explain that he has an idea. The
creation of "The Facebook", an online social connection tool, exclusively for Harvard students.
Eduardo agrees to help him, supplying him with a thousand dollars to start the project. Mark and
Eduardo finally create "The Facebook".

Thefacebook is immediately successful among Harvard students, making it to expand to

other universities. Mark meets with Napster founder, Sean Parker to work, but Eduardo does not
like to work with him. New statutes are written in which Eduardo keeps an important percentage,
but it was a misery. Eduardo, hurt to be betrayed by Mark, decides to sue him, like the Winklevoss
who accuse him of having stolen his idea.

Mark agrees to settle with Eduardo to avoid going to court. What begin in Mark's room
at Harvard University soon become a global social network and a revolution in communication.

Moral of the Story

The movie taught me:

For a project there is no schedule. If you are in a big project, I have to be totally dedicated. I can
start with one hour a day or a week, but to make the big leap, I have to give a full time.

Working with partners is necessary but very complex. The people with whom you start a project
are not always the same ones that you end up with.
