SITE PREPERATION:
• Activities shall be started after getting the approval of the
Method statement and appropriate Risk assessment from RC
• Encroachment permits, work permit, excavation permit, hot
work permit (if any) shall be made available at site during the
working hours.
• Shall strictly follow the TMP to segregate working men from
live traffic by providing necessary barricades, traffic sign boards
and safety posters.
• Plastic hard barricades and signboards shall be unloaded from
the vehicle, away from the road, and then it will be installed near
the road as required.
• For installation of hard plastic barricades and traffic sign boards, flag man shall
be provided to regulate traffic and the flag man should be properly trained and
he should be protected with hard barricades.
• Segregate men and live traffic by installing hard plastic
Barricades and marking separate pedestrian walkways.
• Hard plastic barricades will be provided along the highway road
with early warning devices and traffic signs will be provided as
per RC roads department.
• Copy of approved risk assessment and method statement shall
kept at site always.
• STARRT card meeting to be conducted prior starting work and
STARRT CARD should be maintained at the workplace.
• All the workers shall be oriented and trained including 3rd party
personnel’s.
• Pre task briefing and RED MAN - GREEN MAN training to be
conducted.
• All the equipment and tools are to be inspected and colour coded
before mobilising to workplace.
• Welfare facilities are to be provided as per RC standard.
• First aiders should be trained and certified.
• First aid boxes are to be placed at least one in each worksite.

Removal / Installation of light poles /lifting activity using
Boom truck :
• Prior starting work STARRT card meeting shall be conducted.
• Hazards and risks associated while working shall be discussed
with workforce.
• Tool box meeting on topic working near LIVE TRAFFIC /
ROAD SAFETY shall be conducted.
• Appropriate PPE must be worn.
• Competent crane operator having third party valid certification.
• RC approved project competent Rigger shall be authorised to
lead the rigging activity.
• Boom truck equipment checklist should be maintained on daily
basis.
• Boom truck shall be provided with banks man
• Lifting area shall be barricaded and signage posted.
• Lifting gears shall be visually inspected prior to use in lifting
job, any damaged or sub grade of lifting gears shall be removed
from site.
• Ground condition of lifting area shall be visually checked prior
to setup of boom truck and parking of crane above pits and
trenches, locating of outriggers above it shall be avoided.
• Shall strictly follow the TMP to segregate working men from
live traffic by providing necessary barricades, traffic sign boards
and safety posters.
• Method statement and RA should be available on site.
• Lifting in rough weather condition shall be avoided (high
wind/poor visibility).
• Adequate safety supervision shall be provided during lifting
activity.
• Shall ensure that safe working load of boom truck is not
exceeded.
• All tools and equipment’s shall be inspected and colour coded
before use.
• Continuous HSE coverage shall be made available.

Excavation :
• Excavation competent person should lead the excavation
activities at all times.
• Competent person shall maintain daily checklist and shall lead
the excavation works.
• Prior starting work STARRT card meeting shall be conducted.
• Barricades minimum 1.8 mts from edge
• Sloping to angle of repose.
• Prior to dig, shall obtain a permit to dig permit.
• Shall ensure to check for underground or buried services.
• Continuous supervision shall be provided.
Chipping and breaking of concrete and loading / transportation of
debris_:

• All the tools are regularly inspected and colour coded.


• No faulty equipment or tools should be used.
• Air compressor should be inspected and maintenance is

required.
• Daily checklist is to be maintained.
• Appropriate PPE should be worn
• Ear muffs, dust mask, face shield are mandatory.
• Equipment should be operated by only trained operators.
• Regular training is required,
• Spill tray is to be provided for air compressor.
• Grounding to be given.
• “HIGH NOISE AREA “,” KEEP AWAY” Sign boards should
be placed.
• Regular intervals for operators.
• Rest shelter and cold water is to be provided.
• Hose should be properly connected, no air leakages.
• Capping exposed rebar.
• The dead concrete is to be transported in WHEEL BARROW
and dump in a temporary debris storage area.
• Daily the debris is to be cleared off from site through dump
truck and dump in the landfill area.
• To dump in landfill, land fill permit is required.
• Dump truck is to be inspected and regularly maintained.
• Pre task briefing and STARRT card to be addressed prior start of
job.
• Proper training is to be given to the operator.
• No overload of debris in wheel barrow.
• While chipping and breaking posture is to be maintained in safe
way.
• Tool box talk on topic “chipping hazards and safety precautions”
to be regularly conducted.
• The copy of waste disposal permit should be displayed in safety
office and one copy to be given to dump truck operator.

Saw cut for with exposing rebar 50 mm and saw cut for without exposing
rebar 25mm :
• Prior to start the job, STARRT card is to be maintained.
• Saw cutting equipment is to be inspected and colour coded.
Until and unless it is efficient for the job, should not use for job.
• Until and unless proper training is provided, no one is authorised
to run the saw cut machine.
• Set the blade depth of the circular saw
• Begin cutting at the edge of the concrete and slowly follow the
line marked.

• Never use defective tools and equipment.
• Spill tray is to be provided for all equipment using fuel.
• Engine turned off while refilling.
• The workers are segregated from live traffic with hard
barricades.

Rebar fixing:
• Provide adequate and suitable PPE.
• Bar bending is not allowed at site.
• Provide proper work platform
• Provide proper access.

• Capping rebar to prevent impalement
• Prior to work STARRT card is maintained.
• All tools are regularly inspected and colour coded.

Form work :
• All the tools are regularly inspected.
• Conduct training on proper handling and lifting procedures
• Consider manual handling of when detailing size and length of
formwork.
• Seek assistance of awkward lifting.
• Area should be b arri caded.
• While making shuttering, make sure that no piece of wood is left
on the ground before leaving the site
• Nails should be removed from plywood immediately after
completing the job.
• After finishing the job, make sure that form material is collected
and stored in storage area.
• Use appropriate tools as blade guarded saws, guided saw line
table.
• Wear dust mask while cutting or furnishing wood.
• Wood dust is the hazardous to health.

Grout mixing:
• All tools and equipment are regularly inspected.
• Actually for less than 1sqmts area, grout mixing will be done by
power hand tool.
• The power hand tool must be operated by properly trained
worker.
• Appropriate PPE to be worn.
• There should be no spillage on the ground.
• The mixing proportion is to be checked thoroughly by the
supervisor.
• The grout material should not be overloaded in the bucket.
• Dust mask, face shield and disposal coverall must be worn.
• The power hand tool checklist is to be maintained on
__________ daily basis. _________________________________________
• While handling grout material or grout powder, rubber gloves,
dust mask and full handed coverall to be worn.
• There should be No spillage of grout.
• In STARRT card meeting, supervisor should address about the
hazards associated while grouting and the eye wash location.
• Spill kits are to be placed in storage areas.
• For more than 1sqmts area, mixer machine is used to mix the
grout.
• Properly trained operator should operate the mixer machine.
• While pouring grout powder inside the mixer machine, the
mixer machine should not be overloaded.
• On regular basis discuss about “ safe work practises while Grout
mixing “ in Tool box meeting
• Eye wash is to be installed.
• MSDS of grout powder is to be maintained in the worksite, a
copy in first aid room and one in safety office for reference.

• Post signage and educate workers about chemical safety.
• After mixing the grout, the bags are to be collected and disposed
in the land fill dumping area, on daily basis.

Concrete / Grout pouring :


• STARRT card meeting is to be conducted.
• Ensure proper traffic control signs/devices in place.
• Provide trained flagman to give signal if needed.
• No personnel behind the reversing vehicle.
• Trained personnel in control of pouring hose.
• Ensure proper PPE, as mentioned in MSDS.
• Eye wash and concrete wash out pit shall be made available.

Surface preparation :

• All the tools are inspected on regular basis.


• Properly guarded tools shall be used.
• Generator and power tools checklists shall be maintained.
• Proper grounding shall be provided.
• Do not use spliced cables
• Disconnect before changing the grinding disc
• No defective tools are to be used.
• Trained works shall operate the power tools.
• Daily STARRT card meeting shall be conducted and work
associated hazards and risks shall be discussed with workers.
Coating materials,:
• Only RC approved coating materials shall be used .
• MSDS shall be made available at all times.
• MSDS shall be discussed with workforce.
• Appropriate PPE must be worn.

• Chemicals shall be stored separately with spill trays.
• Spill kit shall be kept on site.

Backfilling:
• Proper PPE shall be used.
• Restricted barriers or high visible line shall be marked from the
edge of the excavation.
• Area should be b arri caded.
• Nails should be removed from plywood immediately after
completing the job.
