Multimedia Project: The Giver Screencast-O-Matic

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Period 1: (19 Students); Period 2: (24 Students). Average-achieving students. These students participate in
class and are able to think critically about the text and different medias that relate to the text with some
individual assistance. No IEP’s.

LESSON PROCEDURE:
Opening Activity- Explanation of The Giver Multimedia Project
Time Allotted: 8-10 MINS, may be adjusted

 The teacher will read through the entire assignment sheet with the students. After reading
through the sheet, the teacher will ask if students have any questions in order to clarify any
misunderstandings.

Transition: Now, please take out your devices and go to the following website: https://screencast-o-
matic.com. Once everyone has the website on their screens, we will move into the demonstration.

Activity 1: Walkthrough of using Screencast-O-Matic Software


Time Allotted: 10-15 MINS
 The teacher will use the SMART board in order to show students how to access the Screencast-
O-Matic software on their devices. The teacher will begin with how to download the software.
After the software is downloaded, the teacher will walkthrough how to upload images and sound
in order to complete the project.

Transition: Please move next to your partners, and pick a memory. Once your memory is chosen, begin
your illustrations.

Activity 2: Group Work


Time Allotted: 15-20 MINS
 Students will pick partners for their multimedia project, and then begin their illustrations.
