To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Haylee Myers and I am a sophomore at Antelope High School. I am writing this letter to address the
governor about the refugee crisis in Syria. I believe that the crisis of not allowing the refugees into America is
uncalled for. While I understand that there are safety issues, there are still are good people in the world that need our
help.

The current situation in Syria is that many citizens have no homes and are desperately in need of help. In all “11.5%
of the country’s population [has] been killed or injured since the crisis erupted” (Ian Black, paragraph 3) This
fighting has become so destructive that a portion of the population has been killed or hurt. Many more people have
suffered even if they have not actually been hurt themselves. The government pleads for relief from “the suffering of
tens of thousands of civilians” (Ian Black, Paragraph 4). They do not have enough support from the people with the
stronger armies to help them.

This refugee is similar to the WWII refugee crisis in the way that power was the cause of the fighting. In the second
world war, Hitler wanted the power and to remove the Jews. He destroyed many of them so his name would be
remembered. This war in Syria is because the people want to overthrow the government which therefore destroyed
the people. Leaving many people left without homes and left alone. These are similar in the way that the people just
want to be freed and saved from the suffering and hard conditions they are stuck in. It is sad to think that society tries
to fight against this so much.

Currently the government denies the people or only lets very few people into the country. I agree that they need to
make sure the refugees are safe to have but at the same time I disagree that it is ok for people to receive help from us.
The previous war caused many people to die, and why should we cause people to have to go through that. I agree that
the governors “refusing to accept Syrian refugees are not only morally wrong; they’re helping the Islamic state
extremist group.” (Don Kusler, Paragraph 18) The state governors have “protested the admission of Syrian refugees”
(Don Kusler, Paragraph 25). This is cruel and mean to not accept the refugees who want a home. .

The main point of this letter is to address the problem of the refugees not allowed to come to America due to the
governors denying the entrance. The majority of the people wanting the people to come over should have more of a
say and create a larger vote. Thank you for all of your time.
