Activities:
● International Church of Harvest (ICH) — (5 hours weekly, 3 days a week) I am on the church
worship band, actively playing and performing for congregations on Fridays and Sundays. I play
the keyboard and synthesizer diligently and I am able to work remarkably well with a team
consisting of people of multiple backgrounds and ages. I have been a member of ICH since
2010, and I have been a part of the worship team since 2014.
○ School of Leaders (SOL) Sunday classes — (2 hours weekly for 10 weeks) These classes
help me and mold me to become a leader in the church. Every Sunday after the church
service, we go over lessons concerning what it means to be a leader, how to be a
successful leader, what to do when facing certain circumstances as a leader, etc., and
how to incorporate our biblical values into guiding other people and contributing to
their development in the church. The principles and values taught in these classes are
also applied in my daily life, school life, and social life. The lessons contribute to my
personal application as a leader when guiding the young girls under me.
○ Life Group Leader — (1 hour every Sunday) Every Sunday, I teach young girls under the
age of 10 the sermons our pastor has preached the previous Sunday. Because they do
not yet fully understand some of the lessons our pastor shares, I change the wording
and I include examples to make it easier for them to understand and apply to their lives,
especially since they are in elementary school. I have been a leader since July 2016 with
my group of girls constantly growing.
● UCLA Samahang Pilipino Advancing Community Empowerment (SPACE) — In UCLA’s SPACE
program, every Tuesday we work on developing ourselves and preparing ourselves for college
through hearing the Peer Advisors’ and Peer Tutors’ experiences. With my Peer Advisor, I work
one on one with her to help improve professionally and personally.
● Molina Healthcare — I participated in the 2017 ITEP Summer Internship Program and was
placed at Molina Healthcare in Long Beach. I worked in the Contracting & Provider Services
department, helping my team out with data entry, mailing, and projects involving many phone
calls. I exhibited presentation skills, communication skills, clerical skills, and more during my
internship session.
● Carson Student Movement (CSM) — I am a student health advocate of CSM, branching from
the Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP). As an active member of the Carson Initiative
for Substance Abuse Awareness and Prevention (CISAAP), I promote the education and
prevention of drug and alcohol abuse. As a group, we work together to make a difference in our
community.
○ One of the youth that organized Red Ribbon Week 2017 for the city of Carson
○ Recognized by the City of Carson with a Certificate of Appreciation for involvement in
Red Ribbon Week
○ Spoke at Southbay Pavilion for Red Ribbon Week educating people about the harmful
effects of underage drinking and informing them about alcoholism
● Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP) — I was personally invited to attend a County of
Los Angeles Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (LA County SAPC) Youth
Listening Session where I helped develop a marijuana prevention marketing campaign and
established a Youth Advisory Council on marijuana and other drugs, highlighting the emerging
health concerns of smoking and ingesting marijuana and its effects on youth.
● Go Green Club — I participate in Garbology, where we sort recyclables, compost, and trash into
bins as well as educating other students on what waste goes into its respective bins

Volunteer Work and Community Service (unpaid):

● International Church of Harvest — Keyboard and Synthesizer player on Fridays and Sundays
● (SLC) Linked Learning Showcase — I was one of the main representatives who explained and
presenting in Mandarin for incoming freshmen. The showcase was very successful, our team of
4 successfully convincing over 100 8th graders to sign up for the Mandarin class. We introduced
to students what we do in the classroom, what topics we learn, and how to write in Mandarin.

Special Programs:
● UCLA EAOP (Early Academic Outreach Program) — EAOP representatives come to our school
and they make sure that we are on track and ready for college. They review our transcript with
us and introduce us to different colleges and universities in our state, out-of-state, and abroad.
● UCLA SPACE (Samahang Pilipino Advancing Community Empowerment) — Through SPACE, I
work on professional and personal development with peer advisors and peer tutors. They help
improve our academic life as well as teaching us how to balance it with our social and home life.
● ITEP (International Trade Education Programs) — Through ITEP, high school students are
connected to real-life jobs and careers and companies that will hire them. ITEP officials help
build a bridge between students and companies through paid internships worth the experience.
It was a very vigorous journey.
● Beverly Hills Literary Society — I was personally invited by Ms. Bottlik to be a part of the
Literary Society, which required weekly book discussion sessions about the book, House of
Names. I attended a luncheon in Century City where I, along with eight others, got to meet the
author and have a Q&A session.
