Task Procedures:

1. Tell pupils to remain sit in their groups.


Classroom management :
“Boys and girls sit in your groups”
“Thank you”
2. Teacher recap previous lessons:
a. Teacher shows power point of traditional costumes: (refer to 10.4.1)
“Let’s look at the screen, what costume is this?”
Example, saree
After pupils answer… “Who wears saree?”
b. Teacher continues showing other slides.

3. Teacher conducts a shared reading session. (refer to 10.4.2)


a. Teacher shows simple paragraph on slides.
b. Teacher read simple paragraph. Pupils listen.

Classroom management :
Teacher: Boys and girls…. Boys and girls…
Pupils: Yes, teacher… yes, teacher…
Teacher: Listen to me… listen to me…
(Teacher shows listening gesture)
Pupils show listening gesture, then the silent sign.

4. Teacher asks the whole class to read together.


(Teacher may ask pupils with high proficiency to lead and other pupils repeat).

5. Teacher asks simple WH-Questions.


“Who celebrates Deepavali?”
“What do they wear on Deepavali?”
(Teacher chooses the pupils randomly)
Classroom management :
a. Teacher picks name-stick (ice-cream stick)
The name that is picked will answer the question?
Teacher: Who celebrate Deepavali?
Teacher: Will Moses try? (Pick from name stick)
Teacher: Children, what do you think?
Correct (nodding)
Or Not (move head side to side)

6. Teacher show task sample on the whiteboard (Table 1). (refer to 10.4.3)
“Look here” (pointing to board)
a. I want you to paste these cards on the board.
(Teacher shows word cards and sentence cards)
b. Let’s try together.

Managing errors and mistakes:

a. If pupils pronounce words wrongly, get pupils with high proficiency to say the
correct words.

Reward and Feedback

a. Praise pupils when they read texts correctly or with minimal errors. “Well done!”,
“Good job!”
