Equally Wet
Problem Statement
For this POW Leslie wanted to make sure her flowers had an equal amount of water, and in order
to do that, she had to figure out the same distance from all three flowers. We also had to
experiment and come up with other solutions, how to place it equally and explain why.

Visual Representation(s)

What is the visual showing?

The visual are showing different kind of figures, a triangle, square and circle, they all are
representing the problem by having a midpoint or a center point. The center point are
representing the sprinkler, and the lines out to the end of the figure is representing the flowers.

Process:
I first started to imagine what the visual would look like. I focused on the information that the
sprinkler had to be in the middle of flowers, the every flower had to have equal distance from the
sprinkler. I started thinking of different shapes and figures, that would fit with the problem, and I
started with drawing out the different possibilities, of how to have the equal distance for all the
flowers. There were many different and creative ways of how to do it, but doing for four, five and
so were harder because you had to use the same model. I looked up a lot of different formulas,
as how to find the equal distance of a figure, and the answers was to find a center or midpoint in
the figure, so all the points would have the same distance no better where you placed them.

Solution
One way of making the flowers all have equal amount of water is placing the sprinkler exactly in
middle, if you wanted to find out the center of the circle you would have to find out the radius, if
the radius were at the middle then every flower throughout the border would all have the same
distance. And another solution could be in a square, to find the middle of this square you divide
the length by two, and then you will find the middle because in a square it only has equal sides,
and then no better from where you chose to put the flower, they all have equal distance because
they all would start from the midpoint.
If you were to find the midpoint in a triangle, then you could use the perpendicular bisectors,
because every line from the sides of the triangle will met and form a midpoint, or also known as
a circumcenter.

Evaluation
I think this POW was very fun because there were a lot of different ways of how to do the
visuals, and it was challenging how to think over all the possible options. I liked this POW
because you had the option to be very creative, and it didn't involve any difficult equations.
For this POW I changed my visual, I made them more clear and neat. I also explained my
visuals, what they are showing and how they relate to this POW. I wrote more my solutions for
this POW, and tried to involve more math language.

Self-Assessment
I think I deserve an A for this assignment, I think my visual are good and they are easy to
understand and follow as I explain my solution. If I should have a higher grade for this, then I
could have made more solutions, or made some of my explanation more in math language.
