Website
Ice Fire Gaming Target Gamers from teen years
Title
Audience up.
Purpose Selling consoles, games and accessories
Goal Create a working and enjoyable website for the gaming community
Concept Create a website with the same function as steam.
Client Name: Mike Lott (Ice Fire Gaming)

1. Target Audience:
When creating my website, the things I will need to take into
consideration is the age of my target audience that I will be delivering to.
The target audience I will be aiming for is teenagers from 13 up. This is
because this age is one of the most common to be playing on games, so
creating a website based on gaming will be beneficial as there is a high
demand in gaming. There isn’t a age limit on what I will be going towards
as the gaming community is large so even the older adults will be able to
use it.
2. Functional Requirements:
When making the website there is going to be multiple things to
consider creating an eye catching and usable website. Some of the
things that I will be using are screen icons, web graphics, a navigation
bar, a large banner, links to other sites, and around 3-4 pages within the
website. Colour and scheme is going to be key as this is what the user
will probably see first when they enter the website. For certain graphics,
I plan to use several for each to make the website look like it has an
equal number of visuals to text.
3. What Recourses will be needed:
- Photoshop: One of the programmes that I will be using through
creating the website is going to be photoshop. I will be using this for
editing images by changing the colours, sizes or merging multiple images
Matt Howes

together.
- Illustrator: This is going to be another programme I will be using against
Photoshop. One of the differences though is I will be creating other
things such as buttons, logos etc. The reason I will use this is because of
the simpler complexity of it. This programme is more flexible in using
lines and other shapes making it easier to create thing such as logos etc.

-Dreamweaver: This is going to be the backbone of creating the website

for ice fire gaming. This programme is what I will be using to create the
website as it is simple and can be lenient with simple coding errors.
4. Detailed Explanation of the pages:

- Home Page: This is the page that will open as soon as the user opens
the website. The logo is going to be placed on the left-hand side of the
webpage so that it will stand out against the navigation bar. The
navigation bar is going to be placed at the top of the webpage with the
banner under it. The banner is going to have a latest released game in it
and showing the user where they can purchase it. The banner is going to
be split up into three sections allowing for three different games to be
showing in it. The home page will have a colour scheme that will also
relate to my custom graphics of blue and black. Scrolling through the
home page, there will be screenshots of games and some gameplay,
with descriptions next to it of the game, the release dates etc.

- Games Page: The games page is going to have a tab of the navigation
bar and will direct the user to the page containing all the games sold by
‘Ice fire gaming’. The game page will have the same style layout as what
the home page does, the navigation bar and logo are going to be placed
in the same place and the way that the games are laid out will be. The
games are going to be split up into sections deepening on the type of
console, then there will be a box containing an image of it and a
description under that. This page will also consist of a custom graphic of
the games controller which will be placed above the navigation bar
indicating to the user that they are on the games page.

- Offer Page: This page is going to contain all the special offers from the
games and accessories pages. This Is going to be laid out in the same
Matt Howes

style as the games page. It will contain an image of the game, and a brief
description with a price.

- Accessories Page: This page is going to also be the same as the game
page, however the only difference will be being it sells console
accessories instead of games. The way the page is laid out will be the
same, however it will be split up into sections depending on the console
type.
5. Timescale:
6. Legal, Ethical and Moral Reasons, Copyright, Confidentiality:

- Copyright Designs and Patents ACT:

The data protection act of 1998 is a way of protecting people work from being
distributed around without their permission. This act is what allows people to
use any work created by artists with permission. By having this, it gives you
control to edit and change anything that you wish to. This act also prevents
people from claiming/copyrighting any names titles etc. Although a member of
the public may be using an artist work, (with permission) the artist will still gain
all the credit for the work. This act covers things such as Films, Sound
Recordings, Dramas, Literally or Artistic creations. This copyright act can also
copyright certain company names, however simple names cannot be
copyrighted as they may contain an everyday word. Such as WHSMITHS. That
cannot be copyrighted as Smiths is a surname which is used in a everyday
basis. Images that the user may use can be copyrighted if they can prove that it
is their own image.

Confidentiality of Information:
The Confidentiality of people’s information is all covered under the data
protection act 1988. This means that any information shared without consent
by a person is breaking the Law and could carry big penalties. This right
protects people identities, places of occupation, date of births etc. With Gap
Travel, if you are to use and image with a person in it. You will need permission
of that person to either use them in the image (or blur there face) or use their
name in a description. This is also included in any videos that may be used. If
the video contains any details about a person in the video, this would need to
Matt Howes

be removed or censored out to reduce your chance of breaking the data

protection act.
Privacy Laws:
This law can also run into the confidentiality of information law. This law
enables peoples’ information to be protected. It means that people cannot
take other people’s information and use it as their own. (misusing) This law is a
way of stopping criminals giving in false information to the police etc. For Gap
travel, this law could be key to protect people’s identity’s that may not want to
be released to the public.
Decency Laws:
This is a way of reducing indecent exposure of people’s body’s in films, images
or even short multimedia projects. This protects member of the public from
seeing areas of a women’s or man’s body’s that shouldn’t be posted in the way
they are. In terms of protecting ice fire gaming decency laws, if you are going
to include videos of a beach shot, you would need to review what kind of
people/clothing is used on the shot. If it shows any areas that are
inappropriate and haven’t had any permission to use. You could be heavily
prosecuted and your multimedia product could be scrapped.
Libel Laws:
Libel laws are a way that stops the producer of a product, not abuse or give a
bad reputation that could badly effect another business. A libel law means that
if a producer is going to include any images or videos from another business
they need written confirmation that they are going to use it. For instance, with
gap travel, if you include a video of a bungee jump that went wrong. You must
erase the name of the business so or any evidence that the public would know
about. This is to prevent that individual business form having a bad reputation.
Representation of the following:
Race/Religion:
Representing people in a way because of the way that they dress or look is
Racist. Including people with turbans or special hats under religion is normal
for them and so it should be for everyone else. If gap travel includes people
wearing turbans etc., they should include them with everything involved and
not include them in areas that you would see as acceptable.
Gender/sexuality:
Matt Howes

Mixed gender should play a key role in a multimedia product. Sexism Is a

massive part in why advertisement is not liked as much. Judgement of Men or
Women should not be used in a product like gap travel, as it will be based on
everything from bungee jumping, to rick climbing etc. The multimedia product
should be made only for men or women, it should be made for mixed gender
to reduce a chance of not being liked as a company.
Other things that need to be careful of are play jurism. This is where you get an
image and near enough copy it and claim it as your own. When designing
things such as the layout for the website, things like any screen icons are
images that are used need to be self-created and not someone else’s.

Functional Requirements
1. Number of pages:
- The product that I plan to create will contain 5 layouts of pages. First
one is going to be the home page then the games, offers, accessories
page and then finally the individual product page. All together there will
be an additional 16 of these individual product pages giving a total of 21
pages altogether.
Matt Howes

2. Necessary Banner:
- Web banners on websites are an area that people are going to see first.
Web banners can include serveral things from images, to nubers or text.
When designing the web banenr there are multiple wasy that they can
be done. For example I could include a gif inside the image so it could
look like a little preview to the user as they are looking at it. The web
banenr could inso include a cycle graphic of images which show new
releases or upcoming updates etc. The text can also be done in the same
was yso that as the image scrolls along so will the text. The text will
explain the image that is being show and will cntai nkey information to
engage the user.

3. Navigation Bar:
- At the top of the website there is going to be a navigational bar for the
user to locate there way areoudn the website. This bar is going to need
to include buttosn for the user to click on. So what im going to do is use
rollover buttons. This means that when the user hovers over a certain
Matt Howes

tab, for example GAMES, it will break down into even more selections
under this tab, such as accessories, new releases etc. The rollover
buttons are going to need to include some indivudal fonts and font sizes.
The font im going to use for this is ‘Rockwell Extra Bold’. This is
beaucuase it is a clear font which is easy to read, and on a rollover tab
there will be a lot of informaiton so having a clea font is going to be key
for the user. The navigation bar will contain its one colour scheme. This
is so that the user will find it easy to locate the navigaiton bar, which
should interest them, as many websites blend in their navigation abr
making it hard to locate. For example if he background colour for the
website is blue, the navigation bar may be in red so that it stand out
clearly.

4. Colour scheme and background:

- For the project the colour schemes are going to be based on ice and
fire, Red and Blue. The main solour for the website is going to be a
gradiant of blue why the text on top is going to be in a red colour with a
drop shadow of blue. This is so that the text represents with the title and
colour scheme that this represents. The colours tht are used need to be
relevant to the task that we are doing and need to be able to be read if
there is text placed on it. The colours shouldn’t be to bright and
overpowering as the user needs to be able to have easy access.

5. Screen Icons:
- Throughout the website there is going to be multiple buttons which the
users are going to have to click to access different areas of the website.
So that this won’t bore the user, I am going to user visual graphics with
some of the icon buttons. For example, on the website there is going to
be a cart which the user will add their items into. So instead of clicking a
plain button which will say ‘BASKET’, I will create a visual graphic of a
cart. This is so that the user will recognize little details into thinking that
there has been a lot of time put into the website. Another one will be if
there is a delivery service provided by the company. If the delivery tab
explains what’s going to be there. There will be a little cartoon image of
a lorry which will represent delivery. Besides the back button located at
the top of the web browser. The user might want ot only go back a
certain distance on the webiste. So for this I cam going to create a
Matt Howes

forward and back button, which will look similar to the web browsers,
such as including the image of a forward and back facing arrow.

6. Web Graphics:
- For the website my animated Gif is going to be a scrolling bar with
multiple images of games which are going to be new relaseses, or have
had major updates which is going to interest the reader. The animated
GIF is going to be the main eyecathing image for the website (besides
the background) so the images that are going to be selected need to be
relevant and clear. The animated GIF images are going to be placed at
the top under the navigation bar. This is so that the user has a 99%
chance of being able to see it. The images will be split into around 5
sections all containing different genres of games. For expample you
would wount to mix up a survival game with a action game image as
they would blend well together.
7. Links:
Throughout the website there are going to be several links so that the
user can direct themselves around the website. The links will be placed
on text, buttons and even images. The buttons will control things such as
product pages and is a main way for the navigation to work. The links
will work internally for the main navigation and then there will be some
external links for the user to go to emails, social media websites for Ice
fire gaming etc.

8. Tables:
For the template that I will be using on Dreamweaver, it is set up in a
table form. This then helps to standardise and organize the way that the
website will be set up. This then allows us to make errors and then
correct them before creating the actual website. The information can be
placed into separate blocks so that that it’s not all scrunched up and
organized properly so the user can read it better.

9. Text:
When adding text to the site its needs to be appropriate as it will be
used throughout the whole site so needs to be clear to read. Examples
of clear text that could be used are Ariel, Verdana and Calibri. One text
that I may use is Unability. This is because it is a font that’s used on multiple
Matt Howes

game websites as titles, headings etc. This font is clear, can be in bold
and will stand out above some other fonts that I may decide to use. The
colours and placing of the text will be key as placing it over images that
may be dark might not stand out well meaning that the user will struggle
to read it.

10.Form:
For form I will be adding a review section for the customers of the site to
leave reviews on their experience. This will contain check boxes, and
sections for them to fill in their details such as names, products they
have purchased an if any donations to the site would like to be maid, a
place for them to insert card details. For the section where they insert
their DOB there will be an example of how they must do it, EG,
19/07/2001. Where the other section such as filling out if there male or
female, there will be presents for the user to just select instead of them
having to fill it out with text.

11.Email Address:
Within the website is going to contain a contact section at the bottom of
every page. This is going to contain phone numbers, email addresses etc.
By adding in the email address, it means that users can send images of
issues that they may be having and then the support team can hopefully
resolve the issue. The email would be something basic and noticeable so
that the users wouldn’t have problems finding it. For example, it may be
icefiregaming@support.com.

12.Embedded Media:
Videos are going to be used on each product page. This is to show the
user that is on the product either the trailer for the games, or little
review videos that people may have made on products. This is going to
be used to add a more visually appealing theme, as people don’t like to
read lots of text, so by including videos would interest them to use the
site over others. The videos that are used will be in high definition so
that the user has no trouble watching it because of quality issues, and
the placing will be in a noticeable place so that they don’t see it by
accident, and that they know there is a video on every product.
Matt Howes

13.Accessibility:
The way the assets on the websites need to be laid out, colours placed
all need to be accessible so that the users don’t have problems using the
website. The videos that are used should be in good quality and the
sound used should be good quality so the user won’t have issues
watching it. The graphics that used for the scrolling web banner, should
be in a relevant colour and place so that its noticed easily by the user
and the text used should be brief and in understandable fonts and
colours.

14.Search Engine Optimisation:

When creating the search engine links I will be referring it to the name
of the company, I will be using the link: http://Ice-Fire-Gaming.com. This
for the homepage, which will be the base of the website address. For
action if action was chosen and uses a meta tag to get to this part of the
site I will call this section "tags" so for this to work it would require me
to use "en" since that stands for English with in html coding. http://Ice-
Fire-Gaming.com/tags/en/Action/
