1. Tension test on steel using UTM
2. Tests on springs
3. Compression tests on concrete using CTM
4. Bulking of Fine Aggregates
5. Crushing strength of Coarse Aggregates
6. Sieve Analysis tests for Coarse Aggregates and Fine Aggregates.
7. Crushing strength of bricks.
8. Water absorption test on bricks.
9. Deflection tests on rectangular beam sections with cantilever type and simple supports
subjected to point loading to determine the Young’s modulus (E) of material.
10. Hardness Test of metal specimens.
11. Impact Test on Steel Specimen
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To understand various stages underwent up to failure by steel material
under tension test. Also the specimens like springs are tested under
tension as well as compression to know its rigidity modulus.
2. To find some key properties coarse aggregates fine aggregates.
3. To find some important properties of common building materials like
bricks and concrete.
4. To apply the principles to calculate the Young’s modulus from deflections
over different beams which are understood in the theory classes.
5. To test the strength parameters like hardness and impact strength of
steel specimens.

Course Outcomes
Outcomes (PO)
On completion of the course, the students will be able to:
1. Evaluate Young Modulus of steel by tensile test and other sections by
deflection tests. Also to understand how springs work in tension and 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9
compression.
2. Understand some important properties of aggregates.

COURSE EXIT SURVEY (mention the ways in which the feedback about the course shall
be assessed)
Through the feedback section portal in “mis”
COURSE POLICY (preferred mode of correspondence with students, policy on
attendance, compensation assessment, , academic honesty and plagiarism etc.)
ATTENDANCE
Students will not be allowed to write the final test if they are having attendance below 75%.
Students are given attendance if they show “ON DUTY” on their absence with proper
attestation from the concerned officials and are to be approved by Head of the Department.
COMPENSATION ASSESSMENT
No compensation assessment is kept for the lab internal objective exam if he fails to attend on
the day of the test.
