HPSV Lamps are different than mercury and MH lamp.HPSV lamp require an
ignitor which deliver high voltage pulse to establish an arc inside the bulb.The
pulse repeats each cycle with a maximum pulse width of 15 micro seconds.
Once the lamp arc is established,the ignitor dropout of the circuit.To provide
proper voltage and energy ignitor may provide 4.5 KV.
A starting current is available to the lamp during warm up.If the
current is incorrect,the lamp may never come up to the rated operating perfor
mance and or lamp life may be affected.
Strike voltage inside the lamp through 2electrodes-Burn the sodium gas
between electrodes-dropout the circuit-Cool-Again restrike and cycle the
previous steps
