Safety In The Laboratory

1. Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times in the laboratory.

2. Follow all written and verbal instructions carefully. If you do not

understand a direction or part of a procedure, ASK YOUR LECTURE
BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE ACTIVITY.
3. Never work alone in the laboratory. No student may work in the
classroom without the presence of the lecturer.
4. Perform only those experiments authorized by your lecturer. Carefully
follow all instructions, both written and oral. Unauthorized experiments
are not allowed.
5. Do not eat food, drink beverages, or chew gum in the laboratory.

6. Be prepared for your work in the laboratory. Read all procedures

thoroughly before entering the laboratory.
7. Never fool around the laboratory. Horseplay, practical jokes, and pranks

are dangerous and prohibited.

8. Dress properly during a laboratory activity. Shoes must completely
cover the foot. No sandals allowed on the lab.
9. Your concern for safety should begin even before the first activity. Make

sure you are wearing safety vest all the time when working outside the
university area.
10. Since most of the labs will be conducted outside university area, please

choose a suitable and proper study area (far from traffic stream).
