Chapter IV

Methodology

In this chapter, the research methodology explains how the proposed study

will be fulfilled. It is appropriate to define the methods of data collection and illustrate

the composition and operation of the questionnaire survey in this chapter. This

covers the data gathering. The outline of this chapter is as follow: explanation of the

conceptual model development; analysis and design; software developmental tools;

schedule and timeline; responsibilities; budget and cost management. The plan for

this chapter is to present the arguments for the research as to why such a research

technique was chosen.

Analysis and Design

a. Data

ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram) is a specialized graphic that illustrates

the interrelationships between entities in a database.

Data Dictionary is a tool used to ensure the consistency of all elements in

a system.

b. Process

DFD (Data Flow Diagram) is a means of representing a system at any level of

detail with a graphic network. It also represents the graphical flows of a

system using different symbols like external entity, process, repository and

flowlines.
c. Interface

Wireframe also known as a page schematic or screen blueprint, is a visual

guide that represents the skeletal framework of a system.

Developmental Model

SDLC using spiral / iterative model. In this model, the development begins by

specifying and implementing just part of the software, which is then reviewed in order

to identify further requirements. Moreover, in iterative model, the iterative process

starts with a simple implementation of a small set of the software requirements,

which iteratively enhances the evolving versions until the complete system is

implemented and ready to be deployed. Each release of Iterative Model is developed

in a specific and fixed time period, which is called iteration.

Software Developmental Tools

HIPO (Hierarchical Input Process Output) diagram is a

combination of two organized method to analyze the system and provide the

means of documentation (Tutorialspoint). The Researchers used this HIPO

diagram which represents the hierarchy of modules in the Automated Library

ID Template System.

An entity relationship diagram (ERD), also known as an entity relationship

model, is a graphical representation of an information system that depicts the

relationships among people, objects, places, concepts or events within that system.

The DD (Data Dictionary) is a tool used to ensure the consistency of all the

elements in a system. It specifies such things as a standard field name or data item,

whether the field will be alphabetic or numeric and the field width.

Schedule and Timeline

The diagram under this section shows the project tasks designed in
chronological order. It helps the researcher to achieve every task on its possible
time.

Responsibilities
This chart below will show the responsibilities or the obligations of every
person of the team in developing the system. It fully ensures the assigned tasks to its
in charge person.

Cost and Budget Management

This section talks about the cost of all expenses spent during the
development period of the system. They are show in the succeeding tables.
