• Fortitude (Inner strength) – In this activity, students reflect on questions such as ‘what would
you do?’ in response to a range of challenging scenarios as they consider how their ‘Treasures
of Reconciliation’ will help them to make good choices.
• Justice (Right relationships) – Students consider human conscience as they reflect on the gifts
they will receive in their First Penance. Students use the steps for an examination of
conscience to create their ‘treasures’.
• Faith – In this activity, the theological virtue of ‘Faith’ is developed as students praise God,
worship God & become reverent.
• Hope – Throughout this activity, students explain and reflect on why we say ‘sorry’ to restore
relationships.
• Charity – Students are required to reflect on the importance of caring for people in need,
saying sorry, thinking of others and considering the thoughts and feelings of those around
them. In doing so, Charity is evident in their learning and human development.

Using a mix of crafts e.g. candy wrappers which can be shiny, old jewelry, gems, foil paper, golden
doilies etc students are to create their own ‘Treasure of Reconciliation’ craft. Students cut out jewel
shapes from coloured paper. Each one has a “Treasure Of Reconciliation” written on it with a sharpie
e.g

-Increases my treasures in heaven
-Helps me say no to sins
-Makes my soul more beautiful
-Restores grace to my soul
-Helps me to be good
-Reconciles us with Jesus
These treasure may be different for each student and is an expression of what their First Penance
means to them.
