List all of the colleges/universities or trade schools you are applying to: List two/three occupations you are considering in order of preference and briefly explain: Why you might be successful in such a field -University of Texas -Texas Tech -Texas State My first choice occupation is a neonatal nurse because I absolutely love babies, my mother was a neonatal nurse and it’s a job I think I could really be passionate about and love doing. My second choice is a child psychologist because I think the mind is very interesting. 3. What it is about the occupation that interests you. I have always loved babies, I come from a big family and have had many baby cousins and I think it would be amazing to help families and their babies become healthy again and make an impact on their life. 4. What has been your favorite courses) taken at Bowie High School and why?What are three words you would choose to best describe yourself? Please explain why I loved AP biology because it’s so closely related to nursing and the human body. I got to do experiments and learn about things in everyday life. I would describe myself as flexible because I’m willing to change when things don’t work out. I’m committed because I always finish things I start and do the best job possible. Lastly I think that I am a perfectionist because I do things to the best of my ability for everything. 5. Do you have/have you had a job? If so, where do/did you work and why? What have you learned from your employment you may not have otherwise learned in the classroom? I will be starting a job at Lifetime Fitness this summer as a camp counselor. 6. Describe an event or activity (positive or negative) that has had a significant impact on your life. How has it shaped the person you are at this time? When I quit gymnastics after 10 years I learned that you should try different things in life because you never know what you're missing. 7. Discuss any decrease in academic performance or grade(s) you have earned that does not reflect your true potential. My grades freshman year could have been a lot higher and I didn’t take them as serious as I should have because I didn’t realize how much impact it would have on my GPA. 8. Describe any special talents) or unique qualities that you have. I’m in choir and I was a gymnast for more than 10 years. 9. How do you spend your summers? Your free time? This year I will be working but all previous summer I spent in New Orleans with my grandparents and siblings because it’s where I grew up and I love it there. I spend a lot of my free time reading, spending time with my friends and babysitting. 10. What hobby or endeavor are you passionate about and why? I absolutely love babysitting because I get to spend time with babies and watch them play and grow. I also love going to the gym because it makes me feel good about myself. 11. What are you most proud of? I’m most proud of my gymnastics achievements. I competed levels 3-7 and in my last year I placed 1st at state for vault, 1st at south-state for all-around and many other placements throughout my years. 12. Describe a leadership role or any other significant role you have held. What did you gain from this experience? I attended NSLC camp over the summer before junior year which was a leadership camp for future nurses. I learned more about working with people, what type of leadership is most effective for me, and how to effectively communicate. 13. School Related Activities: Please list the activity (club, sport team, service organization, etc.) and specify the role you play(ed) in each activity (i.e. if you hold/held an office or had a specific responsibility, describe what that role entailed in detail). -I was a Ready Set Teach student for a year which was where I got to be a teacher's assistant and take on roles of a teacher and see what it was like to be one. 14. Non School Related Activities: Please describe the activity (i.e. work experience, internship, non-school sponsored organization, etc.) -I babysit weekly for a 1 year old. -I will be a future camp counselor.
