What is GDPR GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. This a regulation in EU law that allows the protection of data and privacy for all individuals within the european union. It also however addresses the export of data outside the european union. What has recently changed due to GDPR in the EU ● Increased territorial scope - extended jurisdiction of the GDPR, as it applies to all companies processing the personal data of data subjects residing in the Union, regardless of the company’s location.
● Penalties - Under GDPR organizations in breach of GDPR can be fined
up to 4% of annual global turnover or €20 Million (whichever is greater).
● Consent - The terms and conditions for consent have now be
strengthened and companies will no longer be allowed to use the terms and conditions. The consent laws now have to be “intelligible and easily accessible form” and have to be “clear and distinguishable from other matters”
New changes to PRIVACY on 3 different applications Applications Facebook Snapchat Snapchat Snapchat has also gone under some new updates in regards to privacy. Snapchat inc have announced that they won’t keep as much data and information about users who are under the age of 16. However, if the business decides they want to get / use this information form under 16 yr olds, they have to gain permission form a parent or guardian. Users under the age of 16 are still allowed to use the application along side the mature users, however, things such as location details (Snap maps) will not be collected and used by Snapchat. The key change to Facebook with their new updates in regards to GDPR mean that users can change their privacy settings. Facebook have changed the way users can access their privacy settings through a new menus system. Another change which Facebook has gone through is that
Facebook they have added another shortcut to the main menu where the user is now able to activate their two-factor authentication.
The key update which facebook is releasing is that users
are now able to download your personal data. This now means that the user can safely and securely manage information and what you have shared on Facebook.
