Action Plan 

Objective

As a highschool student enrolled in an Honors Global Studies course, I was given the

responsibility to take on any world issue that I would create a project about. The aim of the

project is to retain knowledge regarding the world issue I choose. I must learn what caused the

issue to occur to understand why it is a growing crisis, and what can be done to help aid or

resolve the issue in its entirety. I chose the issue of the growing numbers of refugees and

displaced person, specifically in the middle east region. I had learned many of the refugee crisis’

going on today, have relevance to the middle eastern countries. As I began this process, the goal

is to raise awareness to people around me, informing on the issue of refugees and displaced

families in the middle east. Hoping,also to raise donations to assist the camps fulfilling the needs

for the displaced families.

Why?

People should participate in this action for the idea of helping those in need. It is a great

cause that keeps children educated, and families healthy. The donations are used to provide

shelter, health care, food, and opportunities for families to get back on their feet. It is very rough

after a traumatic experience that causes these families to leave everything behind. The camps do

all they can to help these families suffering, but they cannot do it all on their own. The

organizations in charge of the camps are not all funded by the government. The non-government

organizations depend on what they can raise, and on what can be donated to them. The more that

is given to help, the more families that can be reached and saved from suffering.

Scholarly Perspectives

There aren’t many ways to completely resolve the issue in its entirety. Suggestions have

been made, but other countries are looking to benefit themselves as well, not destroy their

economy. Lebanon has helped many refugees, and still is doing so. They have an estimated ratio

of 1 refugee for every 4 Lebanese. The only action really taking place is other countries taking in

large amounts of refugees, helping them get back into their normal life routine. Wars have been

the main cause of issue to displacing people. Syrians have been seeking refuge as thousands have

been fleeing their homes since 2011. Palestinian-Israeli war had caused great losses, and many

families in refugee camps now are consequences from that war 70 years ago. Camps and

countries taking in refugees have been helping the crisis, but there is no way to reach the needs

of millions of refugees all over the world completely.

Plan Overview

In order to ensure the goal is obtained, it is created into a SMART goal. The plan is

specified to ensure details are not forgotten. The goal is measurable and achievable because I

created it to be realistic. Time is everything, the sooner the better, but this is a process that will

take some time to complete. Information will be gathered to become an expert on this subject,

and be shared with the people around. Awareness of the refugee and displaced persons crisis will

be raised, and people will like to take action. Donation centers will be available and after a few

months, money will have been raised to send to an organization that will help out these suffering

families in the middle east.
