Abundance and Distribution compost of Zooplankton in Jellyfish inhabited

area in Panguil Bay.

Objective:

 To determine the potential food of Jellyfish inhabited area in Panguil Bay.

Materials and Equipments:

 Net scope
 Ph Meter
 DO Meter
 Sechi Disc with calibrated rope
 Sampling bottles
 Thermometer
 Plankton Net
 Wash Bottle
 GPS

Procedure:

The distribution of zooplankton will investigate in 21 points which are both

located within the Panguil bay specifically between the municipality of Kolambugan
(8°5’16.18’’N, 123°53’48.88’’E) and Ozamis City (8°9’8.28’’N,123°51’0.20’’E).
The zooplankton will be collected during the intermonsoon (May), Southwest
monsoon (June-August) and Northeast monsoon (Sept.-March). Each point in the
sampling area must have atleast 2 replicates for the samples and 4 replicates for the
nutrients (Phosphate and Sulfate). In all 21 points, samples will be collected by vertical
towing of plankton (0.35m mouth diameter) made of Bolting silk (mesh size 50μm) and
rinse it with plastic bottle on the 40 μm sieve. These samples were preserved in 3%
formalin will use for qualitative of community analysis. Zooplankton standing stock will
undergo by a counting method. The major taxonomic groups of zooplankton will
determine under the light microscope with a magnification of 10x10. The species
evenness, richness of zooplankton will calculate by using computer statically package
software (PAS, PRIMER). Physico-Chemical Parameters such as temperature, salinity,
dissolved oxygen,PH, TSS (total suspended particles),depth, time rainfall, turbidity and
nutrients will analyze by standard methods.
