CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, mass haul is defined as the volume of material multiplied by the distance it is
moved during construction. Mass Haul is one of primary work before construction of highway
begin. It helps how to set a formation level and know where is the part to fill and cut, which
part to haul, where to borrow and how much volume will be waste. Mass Haul Diagram (MHD)
are used to compare the economics of the various methods of earthwork distribution on road
or railway construction schemes. With the combined use of the MHD plotted directly below
the longitudinal section of the survey centre-line, one can find the distance over which cut and
fill will balance, quantities of materials to be moved and the direction of movement, and areas
where earth may have to be borrowed or wasted and the amounts involved. In this project, it
helps student able to do their own design of highway on the given area which is in Negeri
Sembilan. The proposed highway is in Palong Enam FELDA village. The student will able to read
the map and know where exactly the place to construct the highway. Choosing a place for road
construction is not easy. Students should know where to connect the highway on the existing
road, where the destination is, whether it facilitates the residents in the area and so on.
