Terra Tape: Orange colour Detectable terra tape is used for telecommunication system.

One layer of terra tape must be placed above the FO cable , tape need to be placed min
300mm above the cable and min 300mm below the ground level.
EMS: Electronic Marker System. EMS was placed at each end of the duct bank bellow the
marker post , min 150mm above the duct bank

Wadi Crossing: In wadi crossing cable can be directly placed at 2.5m deapth , and 2 layer of
detectable warning tape is required.

Duct bank: Each duct bank must have 2 conduits.

If it is 4” coduit duct bank mandrel test need to be carried out befor concreting (initial
mandrel), after concreting (Final mandrel)

For connecting PVC conduit sealant , primer, cement solution are used.

OTDR : Optical Time Domain Reflecto Meter.

Testing of FO cable :

 Pre installation test

 End To End testing

Grounding Test :

Grounding test need to carried out for the pedestal and the communication cabinet.

Pedestal : less than 10Ω.

Communication cabinet : less than 3Ω

Sealing the conduit:+

 4” duct plug, 4” snug pluge , 1” duct pluge & 1” snug pluge.

 3M sealent can be used instead of plug.
 Duct seal was used inside the man hole and the inside building.
 CP 25 need to be applied at the top of the duct seal , it will act as a fire barrier.

Under Ground and the outside building PVC coated RGS conduits was used for the
protection of the cable .

 Where it is necessary to install metallic pipe bends at building entrances, pole risers, etc.,
and the pipe bend is extended underground with non-metallic conduits, the cable shield to
metallic pipe bond may be omitted at the underground end of the pipe bend, provided that
this is concurred to by the Saudi Aramco Communications Standards Committee Chairman.
However, if the metallic pipe bend is extended underground with metallic pipe, the cable
shield/armor must be bonded to the metallic pipe at both ends.

Notes : For higher speed and fast transmission single mode FO cable is used.
