DIVERSE COALITION OF 12 NEW YORK STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT

ORGANIZATIONS ENDORSE DAN DONOVAN FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

(Hicksville, New York) September 23, 2010 – Dan Donovan, the Republican
and Conservative Party nominee for New York State Attorney General today
accepted the endorsement of a diverse coalition of 12 New York law enforcement
organizations including the New York State Fraternal Order of Police, New
York State Court Officers Association, New York State Supreme Court Officers
Association, NYC Detectives Endowment Association, NYC Lieutenants Benevolence
Endowment Association, NYC Captains Endowment Association, NYC Detectives
Investigators Association, Nassau County Detectives Endowment Association,
Nassau County Superior Officers Council, Suffolk County Detective Investigators
Association, Suffolk County Superior Officers Council and the MTA Police Benevolent
Association. The endorsing organizations stood with Donovan outside of the
Memorial Wall at the headquarters of the New York State Fraternal Order of Police
in Hicksville on Long Island.

“I’m humbled and honored to stand here today to accept the endorsement
of the brave men and women who protect and serve our communities in law
enforcement,” said Donovan. “Every day, our police officers put their lives on the
line to keep all of our families safe. As District Attorney, it’s been my duty to not
only aggressively prosecute dangerous criminals who terrorize our neighborhoods,
but to also stand up and advocate for the tools and resources our police officers
need to keep our streets safe. I’ve done that throughout my career, supporting
civil confinement for our most dangerous sex offenders, opposing the weakening
of our state’s drug laws and advocating for laws to protect our communities from
the scourge of illegal guns. As a 15-year prosecutor, I know how critical it is for
law enforcement to have the adequate resources to protect all of our communities.
These organizations recognize that I’m the only candidate in this race that has the
law enforcement background and experience to serve as Attorney General. They
know that I’ll aggressively pursue public corruption to help drain the swamp of
corruption that has overtaken our state government. I’m proud to stand with our
men and women in uniform today and accept their endorsement to be the chief law
enforcement officer of New York State.”

Donovan, 53, is the Richmond County District Attorney. For the past seven years,
Donovan has routinely lead New York City in felony convictions and crime reduction
through aggressive prosecutions and a collaborative and effective relationship with
law enforcement. District Attorney Donovan has been in the vanguard of using
new technologies and laws to prosecute criminals and he has been an outspoken
advocate for tougher laws regarding sexual predators, illegal guns, drunk drivers,
domestic violence, gratuitous video game violence, and for repealing the statute of
limitations in serious sex offenses. In 2008 Dan’s record of service was recognized
by his peers as he was elected President of the New York State District Attorney’s
Association. He was elevated to Chairman of the Association in 2009. Additionally,
both the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Asian-American
Bar Association of New York have honored Donovan with awards for his efforts in
increasing diversity among his staff.

If elected Attorney General, Donovan will execute an agenda to restore New

Yorkers faith in government by:
· Seeking original jurisdiction to prosecute all public corruption offenses
anywhere and everywhere in our state.
· Holding legislators accountable for their tax-payer funded member items.
· Increasing transparency and forcing legislators to disclose their sources of
outside income.
· Pursuing and rooting out Medicaid fraud and returning recovered monies to
local communities.
· Strengthening rules to eliminate pay-to-play schemes from the state pension
system.

Donovan was first elected District Attorney of Richmond County in 2003, becoming
the first Republican-elected District Attorney in New York City in over five decades.
In 2007, with the endorsements of the Republican, Conservative and Independence
parties, he was overwhelmingly re-elected with nearly 68% of the vote in a
majority Democratic county. Donovan has spent his career in public service, serving
eight years as an Assistant District Attorney under Manhattan District Attorney
Robert M. Morgenthau, where he prosecuted major narcotics cases throughout
the city. Donovan also served as Chief of Staff to then-Borough President Guy
V. Molinari and as Deputy Borough President under Borough President James P.
Molinaro.
