Cognitive Development:

Children who are 48 – 60 months of age (Audience) know what are the features of the
winter and its fruits (behavior) among the different seasons (condition) with 90 percent
(degree)

Language Development:

Children who are 48 -60 months of age (Audience) explain what they see by drawing
(behavior) in their previous experiences and real fruits of this season (condition) with 96
percent (degree)

Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require
Learner Participation)]:
Teacher prepares a presentation by using Prezi and she starts to the activity by presenting
it to children. In the presentation, teacher introduces what winter is, the winter months, the
features of winter and winter fruits. After the presentation, the teacher wants children to tell
an anecdote they lived in winter. After listening to the answers of children, she asks some
questions to children about snowing. ‘’ Have you ever played games while snowing? Have
you ever touch the snow? What kind of texture did they have? Is it soft or hard? After these
questions, the teacher shows the children the book of Karlı Bir Gün. And she says that the
person where in charge I bought this book told me that this book is a very important
piece of information about snowflake. She asks the children what that information
might be. And then, she starts to the book. ‘’Neden kar yağdığını hiç merak etmiş
miydiniz? Bir kış günü hayal edin. Hava öyle soğuk ki ağzınızdan çıkan hava,
duman gibi görünen küçük su zerreciklerine dönüşüyor. Yükseklerde, bulutların
içinde, yağmur damlaları donarak kar tanelerine dönüşür. Sonra, bu kar taneleri
usulca ve sessizce yere doğru düşmeye başlar. Kar taneleri genellikle altıgen
biçimlidir; ama hepsi birbirinden farklı görünür. Bazıları mini minnacık çiçeklere
benzer, bazıları ise buz tutmuş yıldızlara… Çok geçmeden, binlerce sevimli kar
tanesi gecenin karanlığında dans etmeye başlar. Yavaşça toprağı, ağaçları ve çatıları
örterler. Sabah olduğunda, dünya bembeyaz kardan bir battaniyenin altında
kalmıştır. Attığınız her adımla karı ezer ve arkanızda izlerinizi bırakırsınız. Karda
yapacak bir sürü şey vardır. Kartopu oynayabilir, bir tepeden aşağı kayabilirsiniz ya
da küçük bir kartopunu yerde yuvarlarsınız, böylece kartopu büyür, büyür, büyür.
Hatta öyle çok büyür ve ağırlaşır ki bir süre sonra onu itemezsiniz. Yeni bir
kartopunu yerde yuvarlayıp diğerinin tepesine koyduğunuzda bir kardan adam
yapmış olursunuz. Gözlerini yapmak için kömür parçaları, burnunu yapmak için
havuç kullanabilirsiniz. Havalar soğuduğunda pek çok hayvanı ortalıkta
göremezsiniz. Fakat kardaki ayak izlerinden onların en son nereden geçtiklerini
anlayabilirsiniz. İzleri takip ederseniz kendinizi sessiz, sakin bir yerde bulursunuz.
Uykucu sincap ailesi bir ağacın kovuğunda birbirine sokulmuş. Küçük bir kuş
Göknar ağacının sık yapraklarının arasına yuva yapmış. Gölcüğün yüzeyinde
parıldayan, ince bir buz tabakası oluşmuş. Balıklar da donmuş mudur diye merak
edebilirsiniz. Ama balıklar donmamıştır. Buz tabakasının altındaki soğuk suda
sapasağlam yüzmeye devam ederler. Gölcüğün dibindeki çamura gömülmüş bu iki
kurbağa ise kış boyunca uyuyacak. Günün ilerleyen saatlerinde, güneş bulutların
arkasından çıkar ve gökyüzünde parıl parıl parlar. Hava ısınınca karlar erimeye
başlar ve yer yer toprak ortaya çıkar. Belki de yarına kadar karların hepsi erimiş
olacak.’’ After the book is over, the teacher says that I am very surprised that
snowflakes are unique and she excitedly says that we can create our own snow
ourselves After the children are curious, she removes the materials for being snow.
All children should have their own materials in order to make their own snow. And
then, she starts to explain the recipe of snow. ‘’We put 3 cups of carbon into a
whale. Then we take our hair cream and fill it until half a cup. We add the amount
of the half-cup of hair cream that you adjust into carbon. We mix the carbonates
and hair cream with our hands. We mix them up for a while.’’ After their snow is
ready, the teacher give opportunity and time to create their own snowflakes
according to their previous experiences. The teacher may want children to give
their snowflakes the shapes of the winter fruits they learn. And then, they discuss
about them.
Individual Learning Activities: After reading the book, children create their
own snowflakes according to their previous
experiences as an individual work.
Group Learning Activities: At the end of the activity, after creating their
own snowflakes, the teacher want them to
give them the shapes of the winter fruits they
learn via Prezi. After shaping, all of children
talk about their own fruit so they remind the
winter fruits as a group.
Summary:
This lesson aims to gain knowledge to children about the features of winter and winter fruits.
After the lesson, children recognize the winter fruits and know winter features. It is a
language integrated science activity and teacher use a media tool that is Prezi for the
learning process.

Measurement & Evaluation:


Teacher assesses children’s knowledge by using the matching method. Matching cards
include autumn and winter fruits and children try to match them.
Measurement & Assessment Activities Teacher prepares some worksheets for the
for Individual Performance: assessment activity about seasons and fruits by
matching. After that, teacher can understand if
children gain the knowledge that is aimed.
Measurement & Assessment Activities Teacher wants children to create a poem about
for Group Performance: winter seasons or its fruits then they all together
compose a song with these lyrics.

Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan:
When examine the Prezi video, teacher can use it in a printed way if they can face any
technological or electronical problem.
