*The Type PKS fittings have a small compound chamber which can be filled only when mounted in an upright vertical position.
**Continuous armored cable such as corrugated metal sheath, smooth aluminum sheath or similar cables having armor which is inherently watertight without a jacket.
†These fittings can be used for the application so marked by the omission of parts.
†† When entering a cabinet thru a standard knockout or sliphole a neoprene gasket can be provided.

Terminations
Use “Armored/Metal Clad Cable Terminator Selection Table” On Page TA1 to assist in proper Terminator selection
A complete termination of an Armored Cable
provides (Paragraph numbers below refer to cor-
responding item numbers on illustrations):

1 Mechanical termination and electrical ground-

ing of the cable armor.

2 A Sealing Gland to prevent entrance of water

or other foreign matter into a cabinet or ter-
minal box where desired. All O-Z/Gedney
armored cable terminators listed as water- Type PKC**
tight have a sealing gland. Terminating 0-5 KV
Non-Shielded Interlocked
3 Termination of the cable core (fillers and Armored Cable
sheath) of multiconductor cables to keep (with no jacket over armor)
out moisture and other contaminators which
would decrease effective life of the insulation.
A compound seal is recommended for all
cables in damp locations and for high voltage
cables (2000 volts and above). O-Z/Gedney
terminators listed as compound type provide
a compound seal for the cable core.

4 Mechanical fastening of the cable assem-

bly where it enters a cabinet or terminal box
through a knockout, slip hole, or drilled and
tapped hole.

5 Termination of Shielding tape. If cable is

shielded, careful attention must be given to
proper termination of the shield. This is
usually accomplished by construction of
stress cones on each conductor, between the
compound type terminator and the conductor
terminal lug at the end of the cable (No. 6).
Because cable construction varies with the dif-
ferent manufacturers, the cable manufacturer’s
detailed instructions for the particular cable
being used should be followed. (Most armored Type SPKC**
cable to and including 2000 volts grounded Terminating 3-15 KV

or ungrounded neutral, is non-shielded and Shielded, Jacketed
therefore requires no stress cones). Armored Cable
6 Termination of each of the
individual conductors and their insulations at a
lug or some other connector, including sealing
the end of the cable strands and the insula-
tion against entrance of moisture. Follow
cable manufacturer’s detailed instructions for
the particular cable being used.

*Refer to cable manufacturer’s recommendations

for dimensions and details of construction on No.
5 and 6.
