Can this GDP growth be sustained?

India ranks 131 in Human Development Index in 2017. Studies have shown that sustained high
growth rate is required to close the gap in living standards between India and developed world. So
the question is can this GDP growth be sustained? (sentences seems unconnected. You have not
mentioned which growth you are talking about)

The major hindrances to GDP growth are huge NPAs in commercial banks, lack of ease of doing
business (India is ranked 100 in Ease of Doing Business Index) (don’t take it in such negative sense
it has improved very much this year),twin balance sheet problem, stagnant productivity of
agriculture. Added to these, the international trend to embrace protectionism can cost growth as it
would reduce exports from India. Also, the rise in crude oil prices and rising instability in western
Asia has raised concerns of inflation and rising import bill which can cost growth. (how will it cost
growth explain more clearly as you have mentioned this phrase in previous sentence as well)

In domestic front, India has undertaken major structural changes which would help in keeping up
the growth momentum. Major among these are reforms in taxation laws, initiation of GST, setting
up Insolvency and Bankruptcy code, Indradhanush plan for bank recapitalisation. Taxation system
has been streamlined with easier return filings. GST would create a common national market, would
boost internal trading. Economic Survey 2017-18 has pointed out that internal trade constitutes
around 60% of GDP. The efficiency that GST would bring to internal trade would further result in
more growth. Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana scheme to boost MSME
sector, which contributes around 37% of GDP. (nice)

Besides these steps to boost economy, government also needs to expend more on social sectors of
education and health. Educated Indians can only bring about structural changes and move our
manufacturing to higher value chain required for sustained growth. Also, healthy workforce is
needed to ensure better productivity. Government need to put in efforts to develop physical
infrastructure. Recently, India achieved 100% village electrification. What is needed now is 100%
household electrification. The projects of UDAY and NABH Nirman would boost the civil aviation
sector. A mission should be undertaken to improve productivity of agriculture with sustainability in
mind. Proper land use plans, cropping plans, weather forecasting, expansion of irrigation can help in
that regard. In manufacturing, India should move towards INDUSTRY 4.0 (it will move soon you
cannot take the credit for suggesting this reform. lol) which would bring new technologies of
machine learning, artificial intelligence , etc and add value to India’s products

In short, it can be said that India has undertaken structural reforms which can push it towards higher
growth. But it needs to be complemented with efforts in building human and physical infrastructure.
Only then can India continue to grow at one of the fastest rates in the world.

1. Introduction is not clear.

2. Try to connect sentence in better form.
3. Suggestions you have given are wide in dimension and that is good.
4. Format of essay is strictly followed which is again nice.
