CELLENISTM

Platelet-Rich Plasma
Preparation System in
Medical Aesthetics
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

• A progressive non-surgical healing treatment in a variety of fields,

including dermal aesthetics, sports medicine, orthopedics, dentistry,
wound healing etc.

• A fraction of autologous blood with supraphysiological concentration

of platelets and their associated growth factors.

• Upon activation, platelet-derived α granules release autologous

growth factors involved in cell proliferation, angiogenesis, collagenesis
and matrix remodelling (PDGF/ TGF/ VEGF/ EGF/ FGF/ IGF etc).

• PRP is thought to promote physiological wound healing and rapid

tissue regeneration.

Growth Factors in PRP

GROWTH FACTOR FUNCTION

Platelet –derived GF (PDGF) Stimulates cell proliferation
Promotes angiogenesis
Promotes epithelialization
Promotes granulation tissue formation
Stimulates collagen and matrix production

Transforming GF β group (TGF) Promotes formation of extracellular matrix

Regulates bone cell metabolism by inhibiting
osteoclasts and promoting osteoblasts proliferation

Vascular Endothelial GF (VEGF) Promotes angiogenesis

Epidermal GF (EGF) Promotes cell differentiation and stimulates

reepithelialisation, angiogenesis

Fibroblast GF (FGF) Promotes proliferation of endothelial cells and

fibroblasts
Stimulates angiogenesis

• Rejuvenation and delay of the aging process by stimulating:

• Fibroblast proliferation
• Stem cell proliferation and differentiation
• Collagenesis and ECM formation
• Vascularization

• PRP Benefits:
• Improved skin texture and tone (silkiness)
• Refinement of signs of aging (lines, spots)
• Reduction of dark circles
• Hydration
• Reduction of scars (acne, stretch marks)
• Gradual increase in skin thickness and vitality
PRP Applications in Aesthetics

• Sun-damaged and aged skin

• Cheeks and mid-face
• Nasolabial folds
• Around the eyes
• Jaw Line
• Sagging skin on the neck
• Back of the hands
• Décolletage
• Scars
• Other body areas
PRP injection Techniques:
• Mesotherapy (intradermis)
• Dermaroller (micro-needling)
• Mixed with fillers, such as HA
PRP – Summary of Unique Benefits
in Medical Aesthetics

• Preserves natural appearance

• Can be used for areas not suitable for other treatments,
such as around the eyes
• May be combined with other treatments to stimulate
synergistic biological effect
• Noticeable effect within ~2-3 weeks, effect visible up to 1-
1.5 years (with maintenance)

Optimal Biological Profile of PRP due to the Separation Gel :

• High Platelet Concentration (X4-5 fold), ~90% PLT yield

• Reduction of Granulocytes, which may mediate catabolic effect (MMPs)

• Eliminating RBC, which may inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis (1)

• Mononuclear cells induce anabolic effect , increase collagen expression

and assist fighting infection (2).

Amgar et al, 2011 – Study Outline

Study objective
To evaluate the efficacy of PRP facial skin treatment through objective parameters, such as
hydration rate and transepidermal water loss.
Design
37 female patients were treated with 4 cc of PRP at the lower part of the face. Control
group consisted of 2 patients, which received saline.
Biometric Parameters tested
Skin hydration, anisotropy, TEWL, Cutaneous micro-relief, Pigmentation, luminance,
temperature
Follow up:
Three follow up visits at 21-28d, 90d and 120d.
Outcome:
3 weeks post treatment a good anti-ageing effect was evidenced (24% improvement),
which increased with time (33%) . The positive effect of one treatment lasted up to ten
months.

PRP Treatment

Before and 9 months after

PRP Treatment

Methods
The scalp was first traumatized with a 1.5 mm microneedling roller, followed by two 10 ml PRP
injections at 3 months intervals
Results
At 3 months an increase in hair density of 18.8% was observed, as well as a decrease in the
average of caliber (-2%), as the new hairs are thin. At 9 months the density increased in 29% and
the caliber in 5%.
for Striae Distensae

Int J Dermatol. 2012, Kim et al.

Methods
19 patients. 3 sessions of intradermal RF combined with PRP at intervals of 4 weeks
Outcome
5.3% achieved excellent improvement; 36.8% - marked improvement; 31.6% - moderate
improvement and 26.3% - mild improvement.
in Orthopaedics

Methods: RCT L1. 46 athletes with jumper’s randomized into 2 groups: 2 PRP
injections (over 2 weeks under US (PRP group), and 3 sessions of focused extracor-poreal shock
wave therapy (ESWT group).

Results: The PRP group showed significantly better improvement than the
ESWT group in VISA-P, VAS scores at 6- and 12-m follow-up, and modified
Blazina scale score at 12-m follow-up.

Conclusions: Therapeutic injections of PRP lead to better midterm clinical

results compared with focused ESWT in the treatment of jumper’s knee.
in Wound Care

Methods : Activated PRP was applied to the wound

as a liquid or gel form according to wound size,
location and condition. Prior to the application,
necrotic tissues were debrided using a scalpel.

Conclusions: Topical application of PRP to acute

and chronic skin ulcers significantly accelerated the
epithelization process, likely through upregulation of
the cell cycle regulatory proteins cyclin A and CDK4.
in Basic Science of Fibroblasts

Methods:
PRP-treated human skin fibroblasts in vitro.

Outcome:
Increase in expression of G1 cell cycle regulators and type I collagen, thereby accelerating the wound healing
process.
