Non-Fiction Response.

Cooking Up an Education. Author: Stuart Thornton

1.- The main idea of the text is that the Freehold Regional School District Culinary Arts
Academy provides students with real skills to prepare a career in the culinary arts and hospitality
management industry so they can be the next famous chef, restaurateur or other specialist in food
services of great prestige.
2.- The connections I can make between these texts and others that I have read is that they talk
about the benefits that there are in certain organizations or schools, in this case they are the
benefits that there are about The Culinary Arts Academy of the Regional School District of
Freehold.
3.- The purpose of the author Stuart Thornton is that students register in the academy because the
people who send a request to be accepted will have benefits in the future because if they try hard
and manage to do the three years they take to be graduates of The Academy of Culinary Arts of
the Freehold Regional School District, the benefits they will have are that they will have jobs in
important places for chefs, they will even make different types of food dishes or they will be like
desserts that even some will have advantages to the Promote your products.
4.-The audience of this article are the people or young people who are interested in attending this
academy, to achieve their dreams that in the future they could be each of the graduate students a
famous chef and make new dishes that could bring them benefits in their dishes and succeed in
their professional careers.
5.- The most important details that the author uses to argue his position is that they want to
attract more students to enroll in the Culinary Arts Academy of the Freehold Regional School
District because in this way they will prepare the students so that in a future you are famous
chefs making your goals come true.
6.- What is more in this article is because the author wants to persuade / convince more young
people to enroll in this academy to fulfill their dreams of being a professional chef. The author
Stuart Thornton states that, "The list of graduates of the Culinary Arts Academy who are thriving
in the culinary arts and hospitality industries is impressive" (Thornton). In addition, "I think the
best part is their 'management week', when in reality they are the manager and see what it is like
to be the manager". Even students who come to work at Five Star Café get to improve their skills
so that At the moment of graduation, they know several things they need as an organization,
communication, and that in their week of each of them being managers at Five Star Café they
make sure that all the food goes out in good conditions.
7.- A possible theme for this text could be "To thrive in your goals of being a professional chef,
enroll in the Culinary Arts Academy of the Freehold Regional School District." The three
sections of the text that led me to create this theme are: The author Stuart Thornton first states
that, "Working at Five Star Café provides students with experiences that will allow them to
thrive in the industry after graduation" (Thornton). Secondly, "A graduate developed the creation
of ice cream" Oreo Overload "Cold Stone Creamery" (Thornton).
8.-The way this text helped me to understand the topic addressed in this text is that the topic talks
about the young students who attend The Culinary Arts Academy of the Freehold Regional
School District, so that as soon as they arrive at graduate from school achieve their goals that
were proposed at the beginning of the school year that was to become a professional chef and
even continue beyond their dreams working in professional places and are recognized people and
come to make delicious dishes of which the people who consume them will do it more and more
and this way they will become more famous according to their careers that they come to take.
9.- An element of the text that would change would be that people will not fight for what they
want and do not get to enter or graduate from this academy fulfilling their goals in reality what
would cause this is that people would not meet to become the next professional chef or that the
students will not make an effort in the school and they will not fulfill their goals.

10.-Literary Analysis Paragraph.

1.- In the text of “Cooking Up an Education”, the author teaches us that if people make an effort,
hard work for what we want in the future we will be able to achieve it and our dreams will come
true, in this case the young people if they try hard in the years they need in school to graduate
and get to graduate can continue Go ahead and your goals will be realized.
2.- This teaches us that if we strive for what we want our dreams will become reality, we will
fulfill our goals. Even being managers in the Five Star Cafe will bring benefits in the future.
3.- "I think the best part is their 'management week', when in reality they are the manager and see
what it is like to be the manager". "Working at Five Star Café provides students with experiences
that will allow them to thrive in the industry after graduation".
4.- This evidence shows that when young people are for a week managers, they learn many
things, such as verifying that products are in good condition, and this will help them in the future
to have good knowledge for what they are going to dedicate as professional chefs.
5.-This shows us that all people must strive for what we want, nothing is easy to be achieved and
if we want our dreams to be fulfilled then we must strive for ourselves.
