Network system and data communication engineers perform some or all of the
following duties:
Research, design and develop information and communication system network
architecture
Research, evaluate and integrate network system and data communication hardware and
software
Assess, document and optimize the capacity and performance of information and
communication system networks
May lead and co-ordinate teams of design professionals in the development and
integration of information and communication system architecture, hardware and
software.
Computer engineers may specialize in a number of areas including analog and digital
signal processing, fibre optics, integrated circuits, lasers, microprocessors,
microwaves and radio astronomy.
Responsibilities
Architect enterprise network between multiple offices across the globe including;
Setup and maintenance of MPLS and site-to-site VPN between all offices
Enterprise WiFi for all offices
Ownership for the network component in enterprise security including;
Out of band logging and analysis services
Ownership of all global SAN and enterprise NAS network requirements such as;
Work with Systems Admin�s to design, implement and deploy storage related network
requirements
Be responsible for the day to day network operations for global data centers,
offices, inter-offices, peripheral devices and staff
Act as principle consultant to various engineering teams on;
Enterprise network and security architecture
Lab network setup and operations
Cloud network path optimization using routing algorithms
Being able to work on evenings and weekends for network maintenances
Being able to respond to emergencies during non-business hours
