To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Jessica Yates, and I teach Advanced Placement English at Heritage High School in
Wake Forest, NC. On any given day at Heritage, a school with a student population of over
1,950 students, I directly interact with over 100 students in the classroom, and countless others in
the halls. Thus, I have a very reliable feel for the typical high school student when it comes to
academic performance, behavior, work ethic, and social development.

As a teacher who cares deeply about students, I have the privilege of teaching a wide range of
student, whose abilities and performance level range from academic and honors students, to
Advanced Placement, who represent the highest levels of abilities and achievement. Patrick
Appah is one of those students in the latter category, and he is anything but a typical high school
student. He is representative of the higher levels of performance, skills and abilities that AP
requires. This makes him a desirable asset to any classroom heenters.

Patrick distinguished himself as an outstanding student while under my instruction in an AP

English Language & Composition class for the spring semester of 2017-2018, and his
performance was notable and commendable for many reasons. He demonstrated a consistently
strong work ethic, thoughtful insight into class discussions and projects, and a sophisticated
writing style that manifested in genuinely interesting writing assignments.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Patrick. He is a hard-working, dedicated, intelligent

and highly competent individual. Regardless of the task, he will not disappoint you.

Sincerely,

Jessica Yates
