Resident Profile Nancy and Steven Fontaine
We have been married 44 years, we met in High School in Pomona, CA. and
have two children, Jason and Elizabeth.
After growing up in Southern California we decided to raise our family in
Northern CA. So in 1979 we moved our family to Rohnert Park.
While our children were growing up we held full time jobs while also owning
our own Woodworking Business and then a Party Decorating Business.
We had been married for 23 years when we began dancing in Sonoma County
CA. in 1996. We thought it would be a fun activity to share since the kids were
getting older and developing their own interests. We took a Beginning Country
2 Step class and fell in love with dancing! We took a lot of different classes the
first year and then started assisting our instructor with his classes. He then
trained us to be instructors and we taught at his studio for 8 years.
We then decided that the kids were grown, and we wanted a new adventure! So we moved to Roseville CA in 2003
and began the idea of opening our own studio. We opened our first dance studio in 2007. Three and a half years later
we needed a larger space to accommodate our business so we moved our location and we taught there for 5 and a
half more years. We taught all of the ballroom dances, country dancing, and Latin as well as many other dances. We
held weekly dances at our studio and had many special events…We loved having our own business!
In 2017 we decided it was time for another new adventure! So we started looking around for a place to retire. We
made several trips to various places and finally decided that we really liked Sun City Festival the best. We felt very at
home here so we put our house up for sale and proceeded to pack up for our move. It didn’t happen right away but
we finally sold our home and came back to find a home here at Sun City Festival. We found the perfect home in just
a few days and we moved here in April of 2018, We love our neighborhood here and are enjoying evening bike rides,
walking, and swimming, We both love many kinds of art, travel, gardening and of course, dancing.
Our Children are still in CA and we look forward to them coming to see our new home here and showing them some of
the local sites in Arizona. We are Grandma and Grandpa to one grandson and he will love the pool here!
We look forward to meeting and making lots of new friends at Sun City Festival and exploring our interests within and
around the community here.
