Argumentative Artifact Reflection

For the argumentative artifact I decided to present my essay on Single Gender classrooms. I

wrote this essay first semester of junior year. This assignment was given to me in English class.

This assignment was to write an essay on whether I agree or disagree with single gender

classrooms. My argument was that I agree with single gender classrooms. The reason why I

argued that there should be single gender classrooms were that we won’t get distracted, a better

academic environment for students, and teachers can find a way to help the students. I found that

single gender classrooms have more benefits for students than mixed gender classrooms.

This essay fits this category because I had to take a position if I agree or disagree with the issue

by using evidence. I had to write the correct argument to support my claim. I also had to state a

counterclaim and why someone might have an opposing opinion.

One student learning outcome (SLO) I demonstrated in this essay was a critical thinker. I was a

critical thinker by having to use reliable sources to create strong evidences to support my

argument. For example, an evidence that I use such as, better academic environment for students.

Another example is that students will have better grades because they will be able to concentrate

and have equal attention from students.

What I learned from this artifact is how to write a proper argumentative essay and cite credible

sources that support my claim. I can use these skills including critical thinking skills in college

and a future career. If is necessary to create an argument for a college essay then I will know

how to start.
