So, think about this: Is it OK for you to travel with someone who has more money than you ? Would
you mind paying a bit extra to help a friend who has less?

Somentimes you'll need to make quick decisions on the road and maybe disagree on what you want
to do.If your personalities and interest are different, you'll have to plan a bit and be flexible with each
other. If one of you is a heavy smoker and the hates smoke, it's important to find a solution that
satisfies both sides. So, consider this: Can you make concessions when you travel with others?
Would you ever travel with someone who has a few irritating habits?

Speding too much time with each other can be very irritating. Plan to take some breaks from each
other from time to time, especially on a longer trip. Then you can meet for dinner and share fun
stories. So, before traveling ask yourselves: Are you comfortable spending the entire day with a friend
when you travel? Do you need spend some time alone when traveling?

The Gap Year

Outside North America, taking a gap year to travel or work abroad is so popular that even the British
royal family has done it. Prince William, for example, spent his gap year in Belize, working with the
British Army and then in Chile, as a waiter in a restaurant. Gap years are still relative rare in the U.S.,
but things are starting to change. We've spoken to six people and asked them " Is a gap year a good
idea?"

Derek

I'm very shy. Really, you have no idea how shy I am. So guess how I'm spending my gap year?
Teaching English as a foreing language in South Korea.Yep-to groups of 30 students. And you know
what? I love those kids and I think they love me back. I've only known them since June, but it like
we've always been friends.

Wull, I lived in Cairo for a year and the experience taught me more voluable lessons than my last ten
years at school. I learned to be much more open to other cultures, valuables and religions-things you
don't learn in class. I think I've become more intelligent.

In 2010 I lived and worked as an au pair in Barcelona for nine months. All I wanted was to get some
cash, and then start a new life when I got back home. But I fell in love, with the litlle devils, I mean,
with rhe twins and the rest in history. So, thanks to my gap year, I decided I didin't want to be a
lawyer, but a primary school teacher. Mom and Dad were a bit surprised, but in the end they just
accepted my decision.

I've been in Scotland for six months and it's been a nightmare. I got a part-time job at a supermarket
and have worked there for only three week, but I hate it. Really, life sucks here. In the winter it gets
dark at 4 p.m. and I thinks this a afffecting my mental health. I'm getting really depressed and all I do
is cry night and day. All I want to do is get on a plane and go back home soon. Than God my cousin's
just come to visit.
