below to help you.
What was the disaster? When and where did it occur?
Hurricane Maria was an extremely powerful tropical cyclone that
devastated the Windward Islands and the island of Puerto Rico in
the Caribbean. It is the tenth strongest hurricane recorded in the
Atlantic.
What did people do?
Following the first warnings from the National Hurricane Center
(NHC) for the system that would become tropical storm Maria on the
morning of September 16, the Government of France issued tropical
storm watches for the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe. The
Government of Barbados issued a similar notice for Dominica.
What kind of damage did the event cause?
After the passage of the hurricane, more than 85% of the houses on
the island suffered damage, of which more than 25% were
completely destroyed, leaving more than 50,000 of the island's
73,000 residents displaced. After the destruction of thousands of
homes, most of the supermarkets and the water supply system,
many of Dominica's residents urgently needed food, water and
shelter for days. Without access to electricity or running water, and
with sewage systems destroyed, fears of widespread diarrhea and
dysentery emerged.
What happened after the disaster? Include any other types of
information that you consider relevant about the topic.
After Hurricane Maria, there was so much damage that Christmas in
that country was not the same, on the southeast coast of this island,
where Hurricane Maria made landfall last September, the waves of
the Caribbean Sea lash the crumbling foundations of the battered
coastal house of José Morales.
