1 INTRODUCTION
This document describes the installation of the WindObserver II
Ultrasonic Wind Sensor that forms part of the Gill Instruments
Wind Measuring System.
The Gill Instruments Wind Measuring System is fast responding
and accurate system designed for measuring wind speed and
direction on board vessels where a high demand for the
reliability of equipment is required.
The Wind Measuring System consists of two components, an
outdoor Ultrasonic Wind Sensor and Junction Box from Gill
Instruments for measuring wind speed and direction and an
indoor Wind Display from Observator Instruments for indication
of wind speed and direction.
This Wind Display is provided with a data output for serial
transmission of the values measured by the Wind Sensor to the
DP system.
Note Unless stated otherwise, the Wind Display is an option that is
not part of a standard delivery, and therefore must be ordered
separately.
This document contains the specifications, procedures and
drawings necessary for the installation of the Wind Sensor and
its Junction Box.
Note The guidelines for installation presented here must be regarded
as a base for detailed plans prepared by the installation
shipyard. These plans must include drawings, instructions and
procedures specific to the vessel in which the equipment is to be
installed. These drawings must be approved by the local
maritime classification society.
