So I want to explain some things about the economical analysis of Process Systems

Design,
so you can start it more easily.

So you have to use the Aspen file,

just use the last one I sent in the group (and run the simulation).
Put all the information (energies and costs) in an Excel files in an organized way
(organized by type of equipment).
For the furnace, you just right-click on it and check the results.
You can take the heat duty in MW and multiply it by 36 $/MWh to get the cost in
$/h.
For the heat exchangers, all of them are heat exchangers that cool,
which is free (but still put the heat duties in the Excel files).
Most of them just use cooling water and two of them (QUENCH and HX1) produce steam.

To see how much steam is produced, you have to go to map Utilities between the
maps on
the left and you check the results for DW-1 and DW-2.
The usage in ton/h is how much steam is produced.
Multiply this by 35 $/ton and you get how much money is earned by producing steam.
For the turbines (T1 and T2), just check the results and multiply the electricity
in MW by 70 $/MWh to get
the money earned from producing electricity in $/h.
For the pumps (P1-P3), do the same, but this time they consume electricity, so the
money is lost.
For the compressors, use the net work required in MW, they also consume
electricity.
For the distillation columns, check the reboiler heating and the condenser cooling.
The condenser cooling is free, and the reboiler heating in MW has to be multiplied
by 36 $/MWh to get the cost in $/h.
In the end, all the costs and earnings should be in $/h and you just substract the
earnings from the costs to get the
overall cost.
